Chapter 34

Loki led me from the bifrost towards his room. I sat on the bed and faced him while he stared at me with a clenched jaw. I watched Loki take a deep breath and loosen his posture.
"I've spoken with Thor and his story matches yours, in fact he takes full blame. So I believe you, it was all a huge accident" Loki admitted. I sighed in relief and closed my eyes.
"Aceleve, if something like this ever happens again, for whatever reason. It will not be so easy to convince me" Loki whispered, coming over and sitting beside me on the bed. I nodded
"It should never happen again. So have no worries" I told him. I heard Loki sigh and I felt his cold fingers wrap around mine.
"What happened to us? I remember us being so in love. Now it seems like all we do is piss each other off" Loki asked. He brought my hand up to his cold lips and gently kiss my knuckles. I heard him let out a sigh and felt the air tickle my fingers.
"Loki, I'm sure in my heart that I love you. Now we're just realizing that we are two completely different people" I admitted, tilting my head to look up at him.
"Yes, but don't differences bring out the best of people? Like how ice cools fire? Or how the sun blocks the shadows? you are the fire that heats my cold world, you are the sun that blocks my evil shadows. You are my opposite, but you complete me" Loki told me. I stared into his beautiful green eyes and I smiled a genuine smile.
"Can those be our wedding vows?" I joked.
"Because those words reminded me why I still put up with you"
"I'm so glad you put up with my insanity Aceleve, for I can't live without you" Loki told me, staring into my brown eyes. I shook my head and hid my face with my hair. I can't handle compliments, you could be telling me the truth but I wouldn't believe that something so beautiful could be directed to me.
"From the moment I saw you I knew that I loved you. I never dreamed that you would love a monster in return" Loki whispered. I bit my lip and turned to face him. I gently placed my hand on his cheek while my other one was still in his iron grasp on my lap.
"You're not a monster, you're just controlling" I offered. Loki chuckled and leaned into my hand.
"I know. I have major issues" Loki admitted. I gave him a questioning look and shook off his comment.
"Whatever"
"Aceleve what am I gonna do?" He asked with a sigh. I watched him squeeze his eyes shut and drag a tired hand over his face.
"What do you mean? Aren't you taking over New York?" I asked
"No I'm not talking about that. I'm talking about Odin and Frigga. They're gonna be pissed"
"Well yea you're taking over all of humanity it's not gonna make people happy"I said sarcastically. Loki gave me a look and ignored my comment.
"We've got bigger things to worry about" I told him.
"Like what?" He asked. I gave him a look
"Our wedding" I said in a flat voice.
"Ahh right yes. I forgot about that bit" he admitted. I took my hand out of his grasp and pushed his chest.
"Rude! Forget about your own wedding" I yelled accusingly.
"Aceleve" Loki began. I stood from the bed and shoved my hand out behind me dramatically and lifted my jaw in the air
"No! I don't want to talk to you" I said dramatically as I crossed my arms across my chest. Loki chuckled. I heard him get off the bed and poke my rib cage with his fingers. I squealed and bent over to hold my stomach
"Don't!" I shouted Loki laughed and tried to wrap his arms around my stomach. I squirmed until he let go and I ran for the door. I threw it open and quickly began running in a random direction down the hall
"Get back here!" Loki yelled, laughing and running after me.
"Never!" I yelled running faster, our boots echoing on the polished floor. I sharply turned around a corner and ran faster. The only sound I heard was my deep breaths and our boots stomping on the ground. I felt his cold fingertips graze my hand and I pushed myself into the air and began flying
"Hey! That isn't fair!" Loki shouted. I stopped and stared down at him and laughed that he had to look up at me.
"Life isn't fair Loki" I gasped. My chest heaving. Loki playfully glared at me and took at deep breath to calm his racing heart. He put his hands on his hips and stared up at me.
"You, Aceleve Odinson are impossible"
"I know, but that's your problem" I told him. Loki sighed
"Wanna keep chasing me? Or are you ready to plan a wedding?" I asked.
"Come down here and we'll begin" Loki finally agreed. I smiled triumphantly and lowered myself to the ground
"Glad you can see from the correct point of view" I said jokingly. Loki playfully glared at me and I wrapped my arms around his neck
"I love you" i whispered.
"I love you too" he whispered back. I closed my eyes and pushed my lips onto his. He smiled into the kiss and pushed me back while wrapping his arms around my waist.
"God guys, get a room. It seems like every time I go looking for Ace I walk in on her making out with her boyfriend" Roy said jokingly interrupting us. I sighed and leaned my head back to wear Loki was supporting my full weight and let my arms dangle to the floor and stared at Roy upside down.
"What do you want?" I asked jokingly.
"Odin requests all of our company. For some reason including mine. He wants us immediately" Roy told us. I groaned and sat up and wrapped my arm around Loki's waist while he put an arm around my shoulder and kiss my hair.
"This can't be good" I admitted as we began walking towards Odin's throne room. No one replied and we walked to the room in silence.
We entered the room as the guards opened the doors for us and we each knelt down onto one knee.
"Thank you for meeting with me" Odin began. We took that as permission to rise so we did and I stared at Odin's one good blue eye. He met my gaze and I immediately stared back at the floor.
"What can we do for you All-Father?" Loki asked.
"I have a mission for you" he began. I gave him a questioning look and Loki shifted his weight
"What sort of mission?" I asked.
"It's a assassination" he told us. The three of us shared confused looks and Roy was the first to respond
"Who are we killing?"
"Someone has betrayed me in my court, I need you three to figure out who" Odin explained to us.
"Why not have your precarious son do it?" Loki snarled.
"Thor is not capable of this kind of work. What I'm asking you to do is spy on people, interrogate people, maybe even kill the culprit" he told us. We remained silent and I looked over at Loki. He stared at the ground and had his hands in fists.
"We will accept your quest" Roy stated. I shifted my gaze to him and he had a determined look on his face.
"Thank you. The most I can tell you is that he is one of my advisers. And we have reason to believe that he is transpiring against me do to his recent activity and rumors among the guards. You three are to get to the bottom of it and assassinate the betrayer" Odin informed us.
"Are you sure you want us to do this? You don't want someone professional?" I asked concerned, partly because of the idea, partly because he wants a group of messed up to kill someone for him.
"Yes. I believe you three are fully capable of completing what I'm asking you to do" Odin said confidently. I bit my lip and looked over to Loki who looked angry.
"If you have no more questions, please excuse me"
"Wait, what can you tell us about the betrayer?" I asked.
"It's a male, around 6'3 in height and light weight. He's been seen sneaking around my war room and looking at my secrete strategy plans. He's also been caught asking some strange questions about poison and killing without leaving a visible wound"
"So if you know all this, why can't you identify the suspect?" I asked.
"Because we haven't had a good look at his face. I don't want to arrest a innocent guard. What if we're wrong?"
"So you want us to stalk him and confirm your suspicions" I clarified.
"Yes"
I pursed my lips in thought and nodded my head.
"I think we have all the information we need sir" Roy said professionally.
"Thank you. If you have any questions send a messenger" Kind Odin said. We nodded and I reached over to Loki and grabbed his hand which unfolded from a fist to intertwine my fingers. We left hand in hand with Roy following us.
"That was random" I stated after we were a safe distance from the throne room.
"That's the truth" Roy stated as he walked up to the other side of me. I had my lover on my right and my brother on my left, in a strange way I'm very happy. Sure my lover is bat shit crazy and my brother worships the ground my insane lover walks on (I searched his mind to find this out. He doesn't show it but he looks up to Loki) but I'm with the two people who mean the most to me. I sometimes wonder what my life would be like if I went to the Avengers side and fell in love with Clint Barton but then I realize it doesn't matter. I wouldn't be happy there. They could have never shown me this beautiful world or shown me how to better use my powers. I think I've made the right choice and followed my heart but that also means going to a fancy prison for a very long time. I don't doubt the effectiveness of Loki's plans but there's always the possibility that it fails which does mean being in prison for life or the death sentence.
"So, where do we begin?" Roy asked. I looked at Loki and he shook his head.
"Actually Roy, your sister and I have other things we need to do so, I'm giving you this quest to prove yourself. Get together a team and complete my fathers mission. Report to me when your finished" Loki ordered, in a more polite way. Roy had a very confused look on his face but he didn't question Loki's orders
"Yes sir" Roy said. I gave him a small smile and a nod of approval. He's grown up so much since we've come to Asguard and I'm very proud of him. We've gone through so much and here we are. The younger brother a soldier and the older sister a warrior getting married to a prince.
"Come on Aceleve, we've got things to do" Loki said, turning and addressing me. I nodded and followed him down the hall and Roy went the other direction.
"What do we have to do?" I asked him.
"I have some old friends I want you too meet" Loki told me. I nodded and sighed. This sure has been an interesting year to say the least. I've learned so much. But I've also lost some. But the benefits outweigh the costs. And the benefits are all that matter.
