CHAPTER 3: No! No!! No!!! No!!!! No!!!!!!!!

The beginning of the day went by better than expected. Devin showed me to my classes, even the one he's not in with me, which is 3rd hour, and now we are headed to lunch. I don't really eat much to begin with so I'm just going to sit today. Devin points me to a table at the back of the lunch room and i head over to it and set my stuff down. I glance around the cafeteria, once i settle in the seat, and look for my brother. I see as he walks in and he runs a quick scan, probably trying to find me also. It doesnt matter what we go through or how far we grow apart, we will always look out for eachother to make sure we are safe. His eyes lock on mine at last and he lets out a sigh, then he walks over to a bunch of guys that seem to be his 'group' they all look like airhead jocks, but Jake fits in with them so, oh well. I'm not in any of Jakes classes because, well, lets just say he didn't get the brains in the family, I mean, hes not stupid, but hes not exactly smart either.

Once he moves out of my eyesight my mind starts to travel. As it has done already multiple times this morning, my thoughts turn in the direction of Devin. My mind's eyes runs over his dirty blond, shoulder length, hair, his beautiful deep blue eyes that hold so much mystery, yet are so open. I bite my lip lightly as i think and the world around me seems to disintegrate until i'm the only one there, sound is lost to my ears as i sit and stare at the table, lost deep in thought.

"What you doin?" a loud squeak rips its way from my lips as the boy my mind seems to be obsessed with just materializes at my side with a tray in hand. He smiles at me as a blush creeps it's was up my face and I look down embarrassed. "Did i scare you?" he says with a laugh hanging on the end of his words.

I answer in a quiet voice, "yeah," as he sits down beside me with a goofy little grin on his face. He's so cute, my mind seems to scream in a very girly way, this is so not happening.

"So what were you doing?" he asked looking at me.

"I was just thinking," I said innocently, if only he knew.

"Do you always bite your lip when you think? What were you thinking about? Do you always squeak like that when you're scared? Why are you blushing?" he fired off the questions one after the other, not letting me answer them until he was finished.

Sighing, I ask, "do you always ask this many questions?"

"Stop trying to change the subject," he says with a slightly dominant tone to his voice. Um.... that was kinda hot... Wait, no, stop thinking like that.

"Well," I start off, not wanting to show how well his voice made me cave, "Yes, I do always bite my lip when I'm thinking, and other times. Um..... I was just thinking about the kids here school," or kid for that matter, but i wasn't going to tell him that, "Uh.. I may make a light sound when i am scared, and I'm not blushing," I end even though I can still feel the red in my cheeks.

He just looks at me with a silly little smile and he reaches up to touch my cheek, "you're not blushing hu?" I stiffen at his touch, at first it was because i don't like being touched, but then i stayed in my position because of the sparks running through my body from were his hand rested on my face. My eyes go wide as my the heat in my face rises and I look down. He moves his hand from my cheek to under my chin and lifts my head so he can look back into my eyes, "you shouldn't hide your face, its way too pretty for that," he says in a sweet voice, then his eyes go slightly wide, "wow," he says in slight shock and aww, "your eyes are yellow, weren't they brown a second ago?" Yellow? Oh no, no, no, no, no, no!!!!!! I have to get out of here quickly. I get up and grab my stuff. Devin looks up at me with a confused look on his face, "did I say something wrong?" he asks in a clearly concerned voice.

"No," i answer his reassuringly, "its nothing, i just don't feel good, I should go home before it turns into something big," he just nods at me in understanding. I go to turn away, but he touches my arm causing me to turn to look back at him.

"Just text me if there is anything you need or if you just want to talk, ok?" he said looking me in the eyes, which reminded me of what color they were right now. I dig in my stuff and pull out my sunglasses and slide them onto my head.

"Yeah," i say quickly, "I will, I promise," then i started to walk out of the lunch room. I feel a presence behind me as i walk down the hallway, i dont even need to turn around because i know exactly who it is.

"What happened?" Jack says as he catches up to me easily. I pull down my sunglasses so he can see my eyes. By the way his eyes widened and he swore under his breath, i would guess that they are still yellow. "We need to get you to dad, right now."

"Thank you captain obvious, i didn't think of that one," i say, sarcasm dripping from every word as i push my glasses up. All of a sudden I become extremely lightheaded and i stumble slightly as we are walking out the door. Jake caught me before I fell to the ground. I leaned into him to keep my balance as my vision starts to blur.

"Come on Kitty, give me the keys, I am not letting you drive like this," he says leaning me up against the car so his hands are free. I dig into my pocket and notice that Jake had already taken my stuff, huh, didn't even notice. I take out my keys and put them into his hand, he unlocks the door and sets me inside on the passenger's side of the car and shuts the door. As soon at the door shut, everything went blank.

When I next open my eyes I am no longer in the car. I'm laying on a cold surface with my arms bound at my sides and my feet bound together, my head is also strapped down so i can't lift it to see more of my surroundings. The ceiling is pure white and there is a bright light shining on me, my eyes close as the lightly shines straight into them, but my eyelids still glow red. After a couple of seconds the glow disappears and I am left staring at the artificial darkness that my eyelids created. I slowly open them and let my eyes adjust. As they do so, I see someone standing over me blocking the light. The green eyed boy stares down at me with a relieved look on his face.

"Oh good, you're awake," Jake says with a smile.

"How long have I been out?" I ask.

"Only a couple of hours, dad was starting to get a little worried though so it was starting to freak me out, but you're awake so it's all good," his smile just gets bigger, then, as if as a way to completely change the subject, he says, "so how do you like the new dungeon, cool huh?" he moves his hands around, motioning to the rest of the room.

"I would be able to see more of it if i wasn't tied down," i say pointedly.

"Oh, yeah, sorry. You were thrashing around so we had to so you wouldn't hurt yourself while dad was examining you," he says as he releases me from the leather belts. I sit up and look around. Jake calls it a dungeon, but it's just dad's lab. My dad is a biologist, he studies weird and unusual animals. Which is funny because our whole family are freaks of nature.

My thoughts are interrupted when my father finally walks into the room. "How you feeling sweetie," he asks gently as he pulls a chair closer to where i'm sitting on the metal table.

"Fine, I guess," i answer, "I'm still a little lightheaded though," i answer honestly. He nods his head and writes something something down in his journal. I just watch him, i'm used to being treated like a science experiment, thats just how my life seems to be, even though he is just like me.

"So, you got a diagnosis doc?" my brother asks sarcastically.

"Actually, yes I do," He says with a light smile and then turns back to me.

"Well?" I ask, I'm extremely impatient.

My dad looks right into my eyes and i can see the yellow reflecting in them, "sweetie, you found your mate..."

WHAT?!?! NO! NO!! NO!!! NO!!!! NO!!!!! NO!!!!!! This can't be happening.
