Chapter 15: A Stranger's Help
I sat there quietly as I heard the boy walk my way. I didn’t know if I was supposed to say something or just have him find me. What if the only reason Dylan left me with him was because he knew that he could kill me, or would for that matter. Almost everyone could kill me, I’m not fully formed yet, but thats not the point right now.
Light, almost hesitant steps came from the direction of the door, heading in my direction. Looking over, I watched him as he made his way to the front of the couch. An intense look was in his eyes as he scanned the surroundings and then his eyes landed on me.
“Oh,” a smile crept across his features, making his deep brown eyes light up, “thats where that smell was coming from. Lets get you cleaned up, shall we?”
I just looked up at him in confusion, “What?” I asked stupidly.
“The blood,” he said, pointing at the blood that was now staining my shirt as it came down in a thick line.
“Oh,” I said again, wondering why he was being so nice, “yeah, uh sure, if thats alright.”
“Of course,” he held out his hand and I grabbed it with the hand that wasn’t holding the side of my neck. Walking into the kitchen, he grabbed a washcloth and started to wet it in the sink. Well, he seemed to know his way around here. I wonder how many times he’s been here. Dylan did say that he knew him and didn’t he say something about Devin as well?
“Hey. Hello? Anyone there?” the words drifted into my distracted mind and I came back to the present.
“Oh, yes, sorry. What were you saying?” his dark eyes looked upon me with humor.
“I said, my name is Sam, and I was wondering if it would be ok for me to get some of the blood off of you.” he had a light, friendly smile on his face. He was kinda cute, not as cute as Devin, but still cute. I nodded my head and slightly tilted my head to the side. The water was cold, making me gasp slightly, but other than that, it wasn’t that bad.
I looked up at him, his features hardened into a look of concentration. “Um… Sam?” I ask slowly.
“Hmmmm?” was his answer, his eyes never leaving the side of my neck as he gently went around the small wound.
“Uh, doesn’t this bother you at all?” curiosity getting the better of me as always.
“What?” he asked, finally looking at me, clearly confused.
“”Well, you’re a vampire right?”
“Oh, yes, I am, and this would bother me if I wasn’t already Mated,” a sheepish grin spread across his features and I smiled as well at the word Mate.
