Letting out a breath of air, Shureii wiped away her sweat with the back of her hand.
"After this, the patient must be put on bedrest for at least a week. Meals must consist of soft foods such as stew."
Washing her hands and thanking one of the healers who gave her a towel, Shureii smiled and bowed in the Veldhuizen manner to the head healers who were furiously taking down notes.
"Thank you for your attention. This concludes today's lesson. Vedahave." *[Have a Good Day]*
Immediately stopping their note-taking, the healers bowed in return.
"Vedahave, Lady Shureii."
Just as she was about to leave, she heard a voice speak out.
"We are grateful as always for your guidance, Lady Shureii." The unexpected extra words caused Shureii to pause.
Raphael Rotavel, a quiet but wise man in his early twenties, was highly respected amongst the community for his hard work and honest standing.
His wealth and noble name were both attained from his own power. Not to mention, his handsome face and well-built stature from previously having been one of the King's closest friends and guards made him a target of many noblewomen.

It was of his own volition to quit the life with the sword and to become a scholar and healer. His only flaw, if it could be considered one was his dedication to work. Anything that interfered with it was immediately put onto his black list. Of course he wouldn't be openly hostile but somehow, subtly, he would find a way to get rid of whatever it was from his presence when working.
There was an incident when he even managed to chase the King and his gang of female followers out without them noticing until they were out of the garden when he was doing his research. Another time, a particularly dangerous poisonous beast escaped and ended up dropping some of its acidic saliva onto some parchment Raphael was experimenting with.
Needless to say, Raphael was upset when he found out and the next day, the palace was stunned to find that he had tamed the creature in such a way that it practically fled away from him into its cage. Of course that was with the exception of the King who gave a mysterious smile when asked how Raphael had done such a thing.
"He has his ways." Was all he said before dismissing the issue altogether.

Having heard and seen enough to know about the highly respected figure, Shureii was surprised that he of all people would say such words. Walking up to where she stood, he looked down at her.
Although he was not exactly skeptical of her ability, as he trusted his close friend's judgement, being as objective as he was, he didn't want to trust her immediately. Thus he observed her.
Her skills were good--excellent even--and did not disappoint him. Her kindness and patience, though surprisingly persistent were also aspects he had expected. What he didn't expect was her maturity.
While he had predicted that she would be skilled and good-hearted due to what he heard from Louis and presumed from the King's actions, the maturity he saw did not stem from those two characteristics.
Instead, the more and more he observed her the more he realized her wisdom and maturity had come from experiences--experiences like the ones he had.
Her eyes sometimes took on a faraway look that showed understanding that very rarely, if ever, existed at her age.
Lifting her hand, he spoke. "For all your efforts we have never properly thanked you."
Bending over, he placed the briefest of kisses, but a kiss from someone like Raphael was something extraordinary.
"Thank you."
"Lord Raphael..."
Shureii found herself momentarily at loss for words, but not from bewilderment.
Unlike the other times when she had been slightly flustered by all the skinship at the palace, she was more collected here. Other than the fact that she had gotten used to some of the customs here and her initial bewilderment, Shureii had found a kindred spirit in Raphael.
From him she had sensed an inexplainable source of safety, even when he had been seemingly judgmental over the past three months. There was no uneasy feelings of romance. She found that a relief from the otome-like encounters with the other bishounens.
He had helped her understand some aspects of healing in that world she did not understand, in exchange for extra lessons from her. As of such, they did end up with long discussions related to the art of healing, developing an odd, barely existent form of comradeship.
Despite the unexpected relationship, Shureii was surprised by his actions. By thanking her and even kissing her at a non formal event, Raphael had distinguished her as a person whom he deemed worthy to call an equal. To go against her would be to go against him. It was an act that would protect Shureii in later conflicts to come.
Looking up into his usually unchanging eyes and seeing a determined look in them, Shureii felt a warmth she hadn't in a long time. Unconsciously squeezing his hand a bit, she finished her sentence.
"Thank you."
It was simple, but it conveyed the depth of her emotions to him. His eyes softened ever so slightly before he nodded and withdrew from his stance, letting go of her.
