The relationship between the marquis and Shureii eased up a bit after he had let her start communicating with Yuki. It grew even better when he began to let her wander out of the mansion.

Of course her limit was always within his private property and she always had guards following her. However his property was exceptionally large and included a vast land that even had a forest and valley.

To her delight there were many new and interesting herbs she had never seen before and saw much potential for. Thus, despite the knowledge of technically still being a captive, Shureii was considerably much more happier than before.

Her mood improved much more when the marquis revealed an underground lab he had built just for her under his mansion. Seeing the underground watering system with rare herbs that only thrived in dark caves, Shureii had felt a bit of her heart soften towards him. As a form of thanks, she brewed herbal tea for him whenever she noticed he was tensed or drained.

Currently rinsing the herbs she had gathered that day, Shureii couldn't help but smile as she recalled the first day she had made tea for him.

He had been in the middle of working through files when she had entered the room. She had calmly set the tea before him and said she had made it for him.

Needless to say, the marquis was so touched he lost his suave mask momentarily as he stared at the steaming cup before him. It was then she started seeing him less as a powerful yandere marquis and more of a child.

Straightening her back, Shureii felt some drops of the mini waterfall spray on her. She had taken off her cloak to reveal a simplistic tunic-like dress that would have been considered scandalous with the way it revealed much of her arms and legs.

This was because the herbs she had noticed around that area had to be handled extremely delicately and washed only with the water that flowed from the mini waterfall she was at. Thus she had asked the marquis if she could get a large tunic to make into a dress.

He was puzzled but gave her what she wanted. When he heard what she wanted it for, he couldn't tell her no, but instead secretly told the bodyguards to not "dare" to even look at her. Of course Shureii didn't know this and enjoyed the small peace she had every time she came to this particular location.

Closing her eyes she let her legs fall under the water of the waterfall as she leaned back on her arms. This little cave was her favorite site. Not only was there a nice scent in the cave, the waterfall always felt good as it gently massaged her legs.  Also there was a peaceful silence for her to enjoy.

Ah...I'm like a lazy old woman lol...

Shureii laughed at herself, knowing full well that if anyone saw her she would look so lazy.

Hm...I would be in my mid-thirties if you combined my ages in both worlds so I guess I'm not too off the mark...

She lazily kicked her legs, splashing some water on herself.

I wonder how they're doing...Ichinose...Ryou...

Her eyes took on a faraway look as she contemplated.

Would I ever return? Could I bring Yuki with me? Why did I even get transported into this world? How did I even get here?

Even after all these years she still didn't have an answer for any of her many questions. Sighing, she pulled her legs back and picked up the basket of now freshly cleaned herbs.

Maybe someday I will get an answer...

She exited the cave and set down a her basket on a rock as she started to put on her sandals.

Hm...maybe I should make a variation of slippers to make this process easier..

She mused to herself, finally getting the first knot done. However before she could get started on the second, she found herself barreled over and into the water.

"Aah!"

There was a loud splash as she fell into the water, a large furry body on top of her. Clearing her hair from her eyes, Shureii was surprised to see a big dog on top of her.

"Where did you come from? Uwah!"

Being under the barrage of many licks, she laughed.

"Max!"

Hearing the voice, the large dog stopped licking and lowered its head pitifully as it whimpered. With the large dog no longer on top of her, Shureii was able to sit up.

"Forgive me. I had not kept an e—"

Shureii had raised her head to see the person who was talking when his words died off. She was slightly bothered by his silence but was even more so when she saw his features.
