Buried under the soft covers of the queen-sized luxurious bed that the Queen insisted on putting in, Shureii let out a muffled sigh. Slowly, she dug herself out from the admittedly rather comfortable covers.

She had barely managed to send the Queen off after many failed attempts before settling to pretend to sleep. Even then the Queen refused to leave, saying something along the lines of: "I must let the baby get used to hearing my voice!" Luckily she was called away when a maid informed her the King wished to discuss something with her.

"Albrecht..." She unthinkingly said out loud before remembering that this was the palace where there could be ears everywhere. So she settled for a mental berating/conversation with the imaginary Albrecht she thought up of to relieve her anger.

What just happened? The Queen isn't at all as composed as you originally described her to be!Moreover, you could have given me a warning that she is really into babies!! And the embarrassment was made even worse than I expected! Mou~!!

Feeling slightly better, Shureii stared up at the richly embroidered veil encompassing the whole bed.

...It's been a while since I last saw this type of view while lying down...

A smile lifted her lips at her next thought.

I wonder how Yuki is doing at the mansion....
ㅡㅡㅡㅡㅡㅡㅡㅡㅡㅡㅡㅡㅡㅡㅡㅡㅡㅡㅡㅡㅡㅡㅡㅡㅡㅡㅡ
"Yuki! Yuki! Oh where did he go?"

A certain noble girl said with a pout before running off again.

"Yuki~!"

Hidden in the shadows of the alcove, a handsome heterochromatic eyed ikemen sighed heavily. He had been subject to Alois teasing about him not being able to go with Shureii to the palace for reasons he still did not know about.

When he thought he had finally gotten a break from all his troubles when Alois had to go away, Marianne returned early from her ladies' outing. Needless to say, she was absolutely delighted to know that Yuki was by himself and not beside Shureii. Hence the current situation.

He leaned against the wall, his head looking skywards. Feeling the coolness of a stone on his neck, he pulled out the crystal that Shureii had made out of the riterepure crystals and a few other precious stones.

"Shureii..."

He let out a wry smile.

I can't believe I already miss you...
ㅡㅡㅡㅡㅡㅡㅡㅡㅡㅡㅡㅡㅡㅡㅡㅡㅡㅡㅡㅡㅡㅡㅡㅡㅡㅡㅡ
"Shureii dear, these legumes will do wonders for you and your baby. Trust me. I ate a lot of salads during my pregnancies and made sure the chefs made delicious and healthy dishes! Oh! Oh! And these sweet potatoes are a must! I craved a lot when I was pregnant. And of course the salmon! You mustn't forget the salmon! Here, I insist! You must try this dish...."

Shureii found that it was not her imagination that showed that the density of the foods presented was fully concentrated in front of her and the Queen who insisted on sitting beside her. In fact, the last dish that was oh so casually recommended to her was actually taken away from the King who had been about to get a serving from it.

Sweat-dropping, she smiled awkwardly at the Queen's actions.

Isn't that technically lèse-majesté?

But to nobody's surprise, no one commented on the Queen's behavior. Even the King pretended as if nothing had happened and elegantly took a serving from another dish.

"Are these not to your liking?" The Queen asked, strangely subdued as she noticed how Shureii was not eating a lot.

"No, Your Majes--" Shureii caught herself before the Queen would throw another tantrum. "...Queen Irene, these all look delicious."

"Then why?"

Uh...they are a little too much?

Shureii wasn't quite sure what she could say without hurting the Queen's feelings.

"Your Majesty, Shureii has a small appetite after a nap." Albrecht cut in, helping Shureii out.

Ah thank you...jotto matte (wait a minute)...She stopped her thankful thoughts when she remembered he was the one who caused this problem. It seemed as though he read her mind because he sent her a smile that looked normal to other people, but she knew to be apologetic. Still she wasn't ready to forgive him quite y--

"However she has been having cravings for sweet vanilla cakes and the King so graciously said he would tell the chefs to prepare some for dessert."

Oh...I guess you are partially forgiven then...

Shureii thought, knowing that Albrecht probably went out of his way to have some vanilla flavored dishes as a form of apology.

The Queen, however, was less happy than Shureii because to her, Albrecht was just flaunting off the fact that he had and knew Shureii as his lover. (Even though the logical part of her told her otherwise).

Just wait. I promise you that I will have Shureii as my daughter-in-law!

Feeling an ominous atmosphere, both Shureii and Albrecht felt a shiver run through their spines. Knowing the basic gist of what was going on, Prince Antoine and the King sent their sympathies but did nothing to stop the Queen. They both knew from experience how bad that could get.

As the dinner went on though, the Queen's mood seemed to lighten up.

Oh...it's just as I thought.

A smile lit her face, causing Shureii to unconsciously shy away wondering what was going through the Queen's mind.

My dear Antoine, you are interested in her.

She had not missed the way her son had gone beyond his usual polite expression. More often than not, he smiled a genuine smile whenever he listened to Shureii talk.

However...

Her gaze fell on Prince Albrecht who was listening to whatever Shureii said.

It is true that she belongs to another right now...

"Irene."

Hearing her husband's voice, she knew what he was saying without hearing it. The initial excitement in her eyes that she had when she first saw Shureii dimmed away as she smiled.

"I know. I just wish our Antoine had met her first." She said, acting calm like the regal queen she was known to be to outsiders.

Her husband hummed in response, placing a piece of vanilla cake on her plate. He knew that despite her eccentricities, she would never actually step beyond the limits.

"Here. Try some. They are good."

He said with a gentle smile.

Things will turn out well. Don't worry.

She smiled.

"Merci, mon amour."
