Chapter 1- Feeble Human Being

" Happy birthday you piece of shit" I fluttered my eyes open to see Caspian hovering above me, I rolled my eyes. Trust him to give me the best birthday wake up call. " Caspian don't be a dick" I recognised the voice as Caius. Caspian and Caius are twins, and Caius is definitely the nicer one. " Thank you Caspian, I really appreciate that" I once again rolled my eyes and sat up from my bed, the smell of waffles hit my nose and my mouth watered. Waffles are my favourite. " You're welcome my British sister"

" Whatever" I said whilst pushing the twins out of my room. Today is my eighteenth birthday, which in the werewolf world means that I will find my mate. I took a quick a shower and got dressed, I didn't bother with make up as I nor my family need it. I skipped down the stairs and into the kitchen where Noah, our chef, was making waffles from scratch. "Noah sometimes I wish you was my mate" I jokingly laugh whilst taking a seat at the large dining table, the rest of my family are down here already.

Caius and Caspian are sat on either side of me and we are the only mateless weres here. Caius and Caspian are twin brothers who can become quite a hassle to handle with but they're definitely the most fun out of the rest. Opposite me is sat Arria, Arria is the most recent addition to the family, we found her in California when we were on vacation, she wasn't treated very well by her pack so she joined us. She's also Demetrius' mate. Demetrius is sat next to her, he's the oldest and definitely the most wisest and very very protective of his mate. Viviana is sat next to Arria, she is a tough cookie, very hard to get accepted by but once she likes you she is the nicest person you will ever meet, she's like a mother to us all. Maximus is Viviana's mate, also very protective of her and quite wise.

" Lily, if cooking you a nice meal gets in your pants then I'm up for it" I punched Caspian in the arm and dug into my waffles. " You? Cook a nice meal?" Caius burst out laughing receiving a death glare from Caspian. " Says the one" He mumbled but we all heard it.

" So today is the day" Maximus wiggled his eyebrows which made me roll my eyes again, I've rolled my eyes way too many times today. " I doubt I'll find him, besides I don't get all the mate stuff yet" a year is definitely not enough to learn about the supernatural world.

" Enough about mates" Everyone snapped their attention to Viviana who was now holding a perfectly wrapped box. " Happy birthday lil" she said whilst passing me the gift.

"Vivi I said I didn't want any gifts" I said to her whilst smiling.

" I know you did" She smirked at me playfully. I opened the box to see some pointed black Louboutin heels. " Oh my goodness" I gasped at the beautiful, and expensive shoes in front of me. " How did you know I wanted these?" I asked picking up the black stilettos from the gift wrapping. " I've seen you eyeing them, I know they literally ran out of your size all over the world but I managed to get in contact with a few people and got them" Viviana smiled at me, something that she does not do often. I stood up from my seat, making sure to place the shoes carefully on the seat and hugged her. " You're the best" I said to her.

" Sit back down because we all have pressies" I looked up to find everyone holding some kind of gift which made my eyes water, I love my family. I obeyed them regardless and accepted everyone's gifts. The last present was from Demetrius, it was a small silver box with a black bow on top. I slowly opened the lid to the box to see a single car key on a small plush pillow. I was staring at the car key for a good few minutes before I looked up at Demetrius with teary eyes. " You didn't" I whispered to him on the verge of tears. He nodded towards the garages direction, I was speechless. I got up and ran to the garage, everyone hot on my trail.
