Percy POV
Flashback
I'm walking through an abandoned park at night with my new friends. It has been a year since the god's banished me and stuff. When I went to my new school, NYC High School, I instantly made friends: Eliza Collins, Haley Newton, Grant Walker, Oliver Edwards, Fiona Dalton, and Lucas Benne.
Four boys and three girls. Seven in all. The Seven. Eliza was like Annabeth, Haley was like Piper, Grant was like Frank, Oliver was like Leo, Fiona was like Hazel, and Lucas was like Jason.
Anyway, I hadn't really been paying attention to the curse and it's punishments so I didn't really care. I was just relieved I didn't have to see the other demigods.
Instantly, a cyclops, no six, came out of the woods and surrounded us. I had no way to protect myself. Riptide had been taken away and no other weapon. The only thing I did have was my training from the camps and my two fists, which wasn't much. At all.
The cyclops grabbed my friends and held them back. Oliver screamed like a little girl when he saw who was grabbing him.
"Let them go!" I demanded. Did my friends see them? Did they know who was holding them?
The leader laughed. He was big and burly. "No can do, young demigod. We have orders from the fates to do this because of your curse."
"Who are you?"
"I am Crusher!"
"Percy, demigod? Fates? Curse?" Haley asked, her eyes wide with fear.
"What's going on?" Lucas interrupted.
"Your friend here is cursed." Crusher snarled. "Any mortal he would care about or loved would be killed in front of him."
"So, I'm going to die?" Oliver questioned.
"You won't die on one condition: deny that you care about Percy and vow to never communicate with him again."
"No!" Eliza exclaimed. "We love Percy and we always will! If he's cursed like you say, I will stand by him."
"As I!" Lucas bellowed.
"And me!" Haley hollered.
"Same!" Fiona screamed.
"Count me in!" Grant yelled.
"Don't forget about me!" Oliver shouted.
Eliza faced the big Cyclops. "Our loyalty to him cannot be forgotten by a mere demand."
"Eliza, no!" I yell. "Do it! I don't want y'all to get hurt! Deny!"
"Sorry, Perce, but we care about you and nothing is going to change that." She said determinedly.
"Any last words?" Crusher smirks. "I'll give you two minutes."
"Thanks, Percy, for being my friend," Grant said.
"Thank you for giving me a second chance." Fiona smiled. She had been a bully to me when I first arrived, but only because she was hurt by her parents and other friends.
"Don't worry about us, we'll be fine!" Oliver said with a grin and saluted.
"Do me a favor, and destroy these guys when we die." Fiona popped her knuckles as an emphasis.
"Percy, we don't blame you for what's going to happen. We made our choices and we're going to see through with it to the end," Lucas said with a grim expression.
Eliza's eyes are watery and trying to hold back tears. She spoke, though, with a firm voice. "Don't hold on to this for your entire life. Move on. Just know one thing: we're honored to be your friends. We don't regret it-"
"Times up!" The leader exclaims. "Boys!"
"Wait!" I yell. They stop and look at me. "Take me instead. I can live forever, get hurt, and not die. Wouldn't torturing be better than killing a few mortal teens?"
Crusher snarls again. "As much as that seems tempting, we cannot. We have orders or are sent to Tartarus."
Everything happened quickly. I'm running toward my friends, but quick as a flash, they draw their swords and stab them in the stomach. They then dump them side by side and walk off.
"Noooo!" I exclaim and run toward them as they fall to the ground.
"Percy," Grant wheezes. "It's alright. Don't worry about us. I—" his eyes close and he stops talking. He's dead.
"Destroy this curse for us. Don't let it happen to anyone else." Haley grimaces with determination then breathes out softly. A breath of death.
"Thanks again." Fiona smiles weakly. "Use the second choices you are given and live them to the fullest." She dies smiling.
"Hey, always remember Oliver Edwards, lady's man." He grins like a maniac then his expression turns serious. "Be there for those who can't defend themselves, just like you did me." The light in his eyes goes out like a fire diminishing.
"Be strong," Lucas says. I nod and he grips my arm tight. "Fight through this and you will succeed, like you showed me. I don't know what they meant about the curse, but you can break it." I nod harder and he relaxes. Dead.
"Percy," Eliza whispers, placing her hand on my shoulder. "Forget about me. Don't hold on or it'll only destroy you."
"How can I? You're my friends," I say with tears in my eyes.
"Friends come and go and you can choose to forget or remember them. Forget us. Don't let us consume you. Forget us." Her eyes start to close as her hand slides down then hits the ground.
They're dead. They're all dead. Because of me. Why didn't I listen to the curse and stayed away?
"You got what you deserved for your crimes," Crusher says coming back. "Let this be a lesson to you. Now, you're going to come with us and learn a lesson more."
My pain turns to anger and it fuels me. I scream in rage and take out the one closets to me and grabs its sword.
I take out the other ones and is soon on top of Crusher, the sword at his heart. The armor was destroyed in our fight.
"Any last words?" I sneer. "I'll give you two seconds."
"I-I—"
"Times up." I stab him in the heart and he exploded in gold dust.
