Percy POV
I get in a fighting stance. "What are you doing here? I thought you left."

"In your dreams. The others don't know I'm back so I thought I would have some fun with you."

"How did you do the teleporting thing?"

"That? I prefer to keep it a surprise. More suspenseful like in those mystery books."

"Whatever, man. What do you want?"

"To make you suffer." He snaps his finger and a black cloud of magic surrounds me. My vision becomes fuzzy and I fall to my knees. "I'm here to help you realize."

"Realize what? You're a lunatic? I already knew that." I strain against the magic.

"I'm here to help you know what I did to you. I made you suffer so bad, it broke you completely."

He charges toward me and snaps his finger. My knees buckle and I struggle to get back up.

"Stop." My voice breaks.

"Um...no. Shall we began? Let's go over the people that died because of you."

Eliza Collins. Vance hits me in the back when I try to get back up.

Haley Newton. Punches me in the mouth.

Grant Walker. Kicks me in the stomach.

Oliver Edwards. Gives me a black eye.

Fiona Dalton. Busts my lip.

Lucas Benne. Smashes a glass bottle against my stomach.

Isaac Fourman. Breaks my arm.

Lily Hudson. Grabs my shirt and throws me against the wall.

Kyle Olson. Gives me another black eye.

Walter Burns. Cuts my arms with the broken glass.

Alyssa Roberts. Slams me against the wall.

Jesse Drake. Hits me head repeatedly against the brick.

Sam Griffin. Throws a wooden block.

Xavier Holmes. Kicks my side.

Riley Justice. Jumps on me.

One hundred fifty people. Their deaths were my fault. Every time Vance said a name, their picture should show up in my vision of them smiling and laughing, their deaths, and...what their future would've been if they didn't become my friend.

"Stop." My voice cracks while I'm on my stomach, trying to rise but falling again. "Stop. Please."

"Not quite."

He takes out his knife and lifts my shirt up. I feel a sharp stab going up and down my back. Warm blood oozes down to the ground. He takes a picture of it with his phone and shows me. Engraved in my back is writing: 150 Dead, My Fault, with the name of every person around it. I almost threw up.

"Do you like it?" Vance is grinning like a maniac.

"You're sick."

"Good! I'm going to be leaving now. Today was fun! We should do it again!"

He starts to walk away, but voices come this way. It's Annabeth and them. They must've skipped school.
