Percy POV
I swallow hard. My death? What's going on?

"Peter Johnson, we know who you are," Annabeth declares. Her eyes look foggy as if she's in a haze.

"What's that?" I challenge.

"A monster sent by Gaea to kill us."

"You didn't think we'd find out, did you?" Jason asks. His eyes are foggy too.

"I have no idea what you're talking about!" I exclaim and back up, but Thalia behind me prevents me and pushes me forward.

"Admit it, Johnson, you were going to kill us," Nico says.

What's going on? All their eyes are foggy! Except Vance! I'm so going to kill him!

I grab Riptide and hold it out. "I wasn't going to kill you, but if you're going to kill me, you're going to have to fight me for it to happen."

They get out their weapons too and charge at me all at once. I block Thalia's swipe and jump back as Jason aims for my legs. I roll under them and come up behind them. Annabeth comes at me with her dagger and Piper with hers. I sidestep and bring my fists on their backs. They fall but get back up quickly. Unexpectedly, Vance comes at me and kicks me in the stomach, sending me sprawling backward at the shore. I get up and hold my weapon out again.

"You're done, Peter." He sneers.

"If you're going to kill me, do it quick."

"I think I could take you with my bare hands." He swipes his weapon and Riptide is thrown from my hands and into the sea. Great. They all drop their weapons and they all advance toward me. Annabeth's eyes are still foggy and so are the others.

She pushes me. "You think you could get rid of us that easily?" I'm in the water ankle deep.

"I didn't want to hurt my friends." I answer as she pushes me again.

"Friends? You were going to kill us!" Thalia pushes me harder. Calf deep.

"I was not!" I protests.

Grover, it's at my knees. Jason pushes me, my thighs. Frank, my hip. Piper, my waist. Hazel, my chest. They tackle me, dunking me in the water, holding me there, then bringing me back up to repeat the process.

"Good-bye, Peter," Vance says.

They push me in harder and hold me there. As I lay there, my anger rises even higher than ever before. I was not going to die and let Vance take control of my friends any longer! I feel a strength I haven't felt in decades:

The strength of the sea.

Poseidon POV
I focus on my son. He's doing it. He's doing it! Finally!
