Annabeth POV
I swear, if these gods hurt Percy, I will seriously bash them on the heads with my fists!

Yeah, I did break Percy's heart and helped completely destroy his life and I feel awful even thought it was all Vance's doing. I'm going to kill him for that!

Percy POV
"Perseus Jackson, we understand the situation at hand and would like to...a-apologize," Zeus stutters.

"Thank you," I answer. "I have a question though."

"What is it?"

"How did I get my powers back? I thought they were taken away."

Poseidon speaks up. "When I disowned you and took away your powers, I only put a spell on them. When you embraced yourself as a true son of mine and set things right, they would return."

"I had no idea of this though," Zeus says stiffly.

"I apologize, brother, but I believe my son wouldn't betray us. His strongest characteristics is loyalty, which I know he wouldn't betray."

"If you thought so, why didn't you say something before?"

"If I told you my son was innocent, but everyone else said he wasn't, would you have listened?"

"I see your point."

"Exactly." He faces me. "I am so sorry, Percy, for not saying anything. I wish I could've—"

"But you knew that Zeus would've said no anyway. I understand." My father looks relieve and forty years younger.

Suddenly, an ear splinting scream is behind me. I look behind me. The others are on the floor held down by Cyclops, the same ones from a century ago. Wait, where's Thalia?

Crusher, the leader, has Annabeth in his hand and a blade in his other hand.

I look to the gods. "Do something!"

"This is not our fight," Zeus answers.

Frustrated, I advance toward the Cyclops with my sword.

"One more step, Jackson, and your girlfriend's dead." Crusher sneers.

"What are you doing here? How did you get here?" I demand.

He laughs. "It's the Fates doing. You may have gotten your powers and broken your Father's spell, but you forgot about the curse: everyone you care about will be killed in front of you. When I kill her, I will your other friends and both camps!"

Vance gives an evil laugh from the side. "I told you, Percy. Tell the others who you are, and I will kill them. I knew that the curse wouldn't be broken yet. I knew when the Cyclops would come. When this death is fulfilled, you will be so broken-" He falls forward unconscious with a very angry Thalia behind him.

"Oh, shut up! You're so annoying!" she exclaims. The Hunt and both camps are behind her, with their weapons raised for any sign of attack.

"Time to die, girl." The Cyclops drives his blade into Annabeth. She gasps and is dropped.

The demigods, enraged, attack the monsters and send them to Tartarus.

I'm cradling Annabeth in my arms. Her shirt is bloody and her mouth is spitting out blood.

"Percy," she says, trying to breath. "I am so sorry. For everything. I should've believed you. Please forgive me."

"I do forgive you, Annabeth. I'm sorry too. It's my fault—"

"Don't say that. If I die, forget me. Live on with your life. You deserve someone so much better anyway."

"No, I don't. What would I do without you? I love you, Wise Girl."

She smiles and starts to fall limp. I lean in and hear, "I love you, Seaweed Brain." Then she dies.
