Percy POV
WHAT THE HECK ARE ANNABETH AND THE OTHERS DOING AT MY HOUSE!? IN MY CLOSET!!?

"Well?" I give them a death glare that would've killed anyone if looks could kill.

Annabeth starts. "We-well, you see...um...we were..."

"Breaking into my house for no good reason. I could call the cops!"

"Chill, dude-"

"Do not tell me to 'chill,' Leo Valdez! What are you doing here?"

"We wanted answers and since you wouldn't give them to us, we decided to take them." Nico crosses his arms, too.

"Maybe because I didn't want people getting into my life! Get out!"

"No," Thalia says.

"What did you say?"

"No! We're not leaving until we get the answers we want!" She pushes me hard in the chest and I fall backward with a cry of pain. She just touched me where I just got glass out of!

They all look surprised, especially Annabeth, who speaks first. "Are you alright?"

"I'm fine!" I get up.

"No, you're not. Your chest is bleeding."

"No thanks to your friend here!"

Annabeth nods to Jason, who tackles me. The others grab my arms and legs and pin them to the floor. Annabeth lifts my shirt and gasps.

"I know, I know, I have a ripped six pack!" I exclaim and attempt to shake them off, but they don't budge.

"Peter, are you being abused?"

"No!"

"Then how did you get these scars?"

"I'm a little clumsy. Deal with it."

"This is so much more than clumsiness."

"Whatever." I get one of my arms free and punch Jason in the face, kick Annabeth off me, and leap up. They advance toward me, but I rip out Riptide in my hands and open it full length.  "One more step and I'll kill you."

"Peter, is this why you hide all the time? Because you're being abused?" Annabeth asks.

"I'm not being abused! I just hurt myself a lot."

"So you're cutting yourself?"

"No!" I groan. "Just get out of my house and my life. Win win for both of us."

"Peter, you can trust us. We're not going to hurt you."

I hesitate. They said I could trust them, but that's broken. They wouldn't hurt me, they did so over and over again. But still, I had to tell them. I lower the sword. "I am being abused. By my stepdad."

Their faces are of ones of pain. "For how long?" Grover asks.

"Pretty much my entire life."

"I am so sorry. We didn't know."

"I know you didn't and I wanted to keep it like that."

"But why?"

"Because I wanted to, okay?" They take a step back. "Can you please get out now?"

"Wait, I have one more questions."

"What?"

"What are those pictures in the closet? How did you get them?"

What's a lie they'll actually believe? "I'm a descendant of Percy Jackson." They gasp.

"I thought he was to live forever." Hazel says.

"He was. He got married, had a kid, their kid had a kid, and a whole line until me. The story about the curse has been passed down for generations. It was said everyone you care about would be killed and no one knows how to break it. Percy though, they say is still alive. When he had a kid, he left, and his wife killed because what more does a man love than his wife? Each generation, the mother dies on the exact same day: August 27. After your mom dies, anyone you care about from then on dies too. On the exact same day. We have friends an entire school year and through summer then they die. That's how it is."

"Is that way you don't anyone to be your friend?" Piper asks. "You're afraid they'll die?"

"Yeah, I never had any friends, so I didn't have to worry about it while growing up."

"Oh. I'm really sorry."

"Well, you got your answer. Can you go now please?"

They leave without another word. I sink into my bed. I can't believe they bought that lie.

Annabeth POV
I can't believe something so horrible would happen to those poor people. Percy Jackson, I will kill you for the misery you caused your descendants!

"Well, that sure explained a lot. The sword fighting, his eyes, pushing us away, him being abused," Jason says.

"Yeah, but he's not telling the full truth." Calypso says. We all turn and look at her.

"What do you mean? It makes sense."

She rolls her eyes. "I know a lie when I see one and that was definitely one."

"Then how would you explain everything? The pictures, the eyes, everything?" Nico challenged.

"I don't know, but he wasn't telling the truth."

"At least we do know why he hides. He's being abused at home," Grover says.

"Yeah." I say and start thinking. If Calypso was right, who was Peter?
