"So, are you up for a race?" Hiccup asked Alva with a grin.

"Always." Alva agreed and hopped on her dragon. She waited for Hiccup to finish getting situated on Toothless before they prepared to take off.

"Okay, we'll race once fully around Berk and land back in the cove. No cheating, it needs to be around the full perimeter." Hiccup said before he put on his mask.

"Wait! I don't have my armour." Alva remembered just before they took off.

"Oh, right. I'll be right back then." Hiccup said and flew off with Toothless. Alva waited for them to come back with her armour but it was taking longer than expected.

   After a few more minutes of waiting, Hiccup showed up with Alva's armour and passed it to her. "Sorry, my mom was at home and she wanted to talk a bit." He apologised to her. Alva nodded and went behind a rock to put it on, leaning against it for support. She was fast at putting on her armour now, she's been doing it for years.

"Ready now?" Hiccup asked as she jumped back on to Thunder.

"Sure am." Alva agreed.

"One, two, three... go!" Hiccup counted down for them and they took off in to the air. Alva let Hiccup have the lead at first so she could see which way to go before speeding up. She passed Hiccup for a little while before he caught up to her again.

"Okay Thunder, we're going to reach speeds you have never imagined before. I know you can do it, tushy." Alva whispered to her dragon when she was falling behind. Thunder nodded in determination and tried to speed up. He failed the first few tries but eventually got faster than he had ever been before.

"Okay, bud, they're going to win if we don't try to go faster." Hiccup said to Toothless and Toothless agreed. They sped up to catch up to Alva and Thunder but it was too late, Alva was already landing in the cove.

"Okay, next time you visit, we're having a rematch. Just next time, we're doing three laps." Hiccup said once he landed beside Thunder.

"You have yourself a deal, Hiccup."

   It was just before Alva was going to leave when she remembered that she still had to talk to Astrid and Hiccup. She had forgotten all day until Hiccup and her met up with the gang again to say goodbye. Astrid pulled Alva away to ask her about it.

"So I'm assuming you two got too caught up with your dragons and forgot?" Astrid asked the brunette standing in front of her.

"Sure did. Next time for sure, okay?" Alva told Astrid and smiled before going back to the gang.

"I better get going, Hallgird will kill me if I'm past the island's curfew." She told the gang and said her goodbyes before getting ready to leave, Hiccup trailing right behind her.

"If you're chief, why do you have to be back for curfew? You're the one who set it." Hiccup asked, confused.

"Exactly. If I set the curfew and I don't follow that rule, why would anyone else? I have to be back for eight and I still have an hour, I'll be more than fine." Alva told him as they walked back to the cove.

"What about travelling? Like, if one of the vikings want to explore for a few days, then what do you do?" Hiccup asked her.

"They just come talk to me and we set a date for them to be back by. That way, if something goes wrong, we'll know." Alva explained to him. "Drakkaey has quite a lot of differences compared to every other island but we've been fine for years so I'm not making changes."

"Pretty interesting way to run a tribe, I like it." Hiccup complimented her style of being chief and smiled. He decided he might look into doing that too.

"Thank you." Alva said and smiled. Once they reached the cove, Alva called out for Thunder and he came bounding towards them. Toothless ran over to him too and they played together for a few more minutes before Alva had to go. "I had a great time, I'll definitely come back soon." Alva told me and thought about going in for a hug. Hiccup noticed and hugged her before sending her on her way.

"Maybe soon you can come visit Drakkaey, I'm sure the other dragons would love to meet Toothless." Alva said and scratched Toothless one last time before waving goodbye and flying off into the air.

~~~~~
"Alva, good, I was worried you wouldn't make it home in time." Hallgird exclaimed and pulled Alva into a hug. The pudgy woman always squeezed a bit too tight but Alva had gotten used to it.
"No, I made sure to come back with enough time to spare. So what went on today?" Alva asked Hall, sitting across from her by the fire as Thunder nudged his head under Hall's hand.
Hallgird stroked the dragon as she talked about her day, "Well, we had another baby hatch today. She's Jorund's boy's new dragon, they're calling her Smudge. Isn't that cute? Yes, well she's currently in the hatchery and of course Fridmund and his dragon got into some trouble today. What a crazy viking. You know Brinhild from just down the road? She found out she's having a new baby. Eight kids already, what a gal." Hallgird went on and on, Alva smiled, knowing she enjoyed when she got to control the village because most of her days consisted of the viking children.
"Sounds like you had a busy day, Hall." Alva told her and petted Hall's dragon, Dreamclaw. Dreamclaw was Thunder's mate, they got along very well and never wanted to be apart, except for when Thunder would go visit his injured Night Fury friend. Dreamclaw wasn't fond of that one.
"We did, didn't we, Dream?" Hallgird grinned at her dragon. "Well what did you end up doing?"
"Oh, Berk is great. Hiccup introduced me to his friends, they're all wonderful. I mean, this Snotlout character is a bit much for me, but he's still cool. Thunder loved Toothless, they're getting along well. It's just fantastic, I can't wait to go back." Alva gushed to Hall.
"So, this Hiccup kid, does he have a girlfriend?" Hallgird asked the young chief sitting in front of her.
"Yes, her name is Astrid. She's really cool."
"Yeah, yeah, well you sure do seem to like him." Hallgird teased her.
"I do not, Hall, we're just friends. I barely know the guy!" Alva exclaimed and threw her hands into the air, startling the dragons.
"As soon as you mentioned his name, your eyes had a sparkle in them. It's the kind of sparkle you get when you've met the one." Hallgird said and stood up to get Dreamclaw and herself to bed.
"You're crazy, I'm going to bed. Goodnight, Hall." Alva said and gave Hall a hug before walking up the stairs.
