Hiccup woke up the morning of the chieftain meeting full of excitement, he could hardly wait to find out Alva's reasoning. Once he was out of bed and dressed, he took Toothless for their morning flight.

"So I know this sucks, but you can't come to the meeting. Not all of the chief's are okay with dragons yet and I don't want you getting hurt." Hiccup broke the news to his sleek black dragon as he got him ready. "But as soon as I get back, we'll go on an adventure." Toothless cooed to this.

The duo took off quickly and into the skies, the sun had hardly risen. This was Hiccup's favourite way to start the day. Toothless rose higher and into the clouds so Hiccup could fly on his own again. "Ready bud?" Hiccup asked his best friend and got them both situated. Before Toothless knew it, Hiccup was falling from the sky. Toothless flew down to meet with him before the both glided through the skies.

"Now if I clearly remember," Hiccup started, "there are no rocks directly ahead."

The two flew side by side for as long as possible before the sun came up fully and Hiccup knew it was time to get back to Berk. Hiccup grabbed onto Toothless and swung his leg over, clicked everything into place, and Toothless dove close to the water, and at the very last second, turned around to go back home.

Once they reached Berk again, the villagers were beginning to wake up to complete their daily duties. He spotted his mother speaking to Gobber by the forge, so he flew over to her. "Hey, mom. Are you okay with watching over the village today? I have that meeting to go to, I have no idea how long it'll take." He asked Valka, pleading her to say yes so he wouldn't have to hand the role off to Gobber.

"Why not me, Hiccup? I can do it no problem!" Gobber spoke up with a grin.

"I just thought you would be busy in the forge, you know, with the dragons and saddles." Hiccup shrugged but his mother knew that was a lie.

"Yes, dear, I can handle it." Val said with a smile and a bit of a laugh before ushering her son out of there. "Now go take care of your dragon before you go."

Hiccup walked back over to Toothless and walked with him back to their home, "Hungry bud?" Hiccup asked the dragon beside him. Toothless started to wag his long tail and pounced to the back of the house where he would get his large basket of fish. Hiccup tipped it over before going inside to get dressed for the meeting. He left his mask inside though, so whichever chiefs weren't aware of Berk's dragons wouldn't grow suspicious.
