Chapter 20- surprises...

At first we sat in a comfortable silence, as Shawn drove out of the city and more into the countryside rural areas. Shawn focused on driving and my attention was turned to the activities going on outside the window, starting to become sleepier and sleepier as the journey becomes longer and longer. I broke our comfortable silence when I asked Shawn how long until we were getting there,

"It's only been ten minutes," he chuckles "I'd say about an hour."

"How has it only been ten minutes? It feels like a lifetime! Will you tell me where we're going?"

"Nope,"

"I hate you,"

"I've been made aware,"

"Shawn, I mean it"

"Trust me, I'm working on that."

"Stealing my muffins sure didn't help," I hint.

"I believe you offered them to me?"

"Whatever," I huff

"How are things with Noah?" Shawn asks, throwing me off guard slightly

"Um, okay I guess."

"You sure?" he continues to probe

"I suppose so, I miss him but I can't help feel like I'm holding him back."

"From what?"

"It doesn't matter,"

"You know, if you're not happy you should have the right to move on." Shawn suggests, and I can hear how gentle he is with his voice.

"I'm happy, I love him."

"As long as you're happy,"

I glance at Shawn and offer him a smile, with which he offers a tight one in return once again an emotion I can't fathom in his eyes. We soon return to our comfortable silence and my eyelids start feeling heavier and heavier until I settle into a comfortable sleep as we continue to drive to our mysterious location.

"Eva," Shawn says whilst shaking my shoulder "Wake up, we're here."

I sleepily get up and rub my eyes, looking out of the windows taking in the fact that we are literally in the middle of no-where.

"You're not planning to murder me are you?" I question taking Shawn's outstretch hand, getting out of the car as he leads me to our final destination.

"As tempting as that is, not today. I have better plans,"

We turn a small corner, around a tree and I stop dead in my tracks. What I see in front of me is beautiful, it's a small picnic blanket set up with some lovely food, fairy lights dangling from the trees adding to the beauty of the place.

"This is beautiful Shawn,"

"This isn't the best part, do you see the screen there? It's going to be playing Harry Potter for us."

"It's perfect," I beam at him as he drags me to the picnic blanket with him, and the Goblet of Fire starts to play as we settled down with our snacks, our attention focused on the screen. Well, my attention was focused on the screen, I swear I could see Shawn staring at me. As the movie proceeds, Shawn and I draw closer together to one another and as it starts to get cold we end up cuddling under a blanket, deep down I know this could be slightly wrong yet it seems so right. My head rests on his chest, with one of his arms secured tightly around my shoulders and the other drawing me closer to him. I feel comforted by his steady breathing and heart beat and I snuggle further enjoying the adventures of Harry and his friends whilst Shawn enjoys sleeping with me in his arms.
