~ Chapter 3 ~
Thundering hooves and the sound of Dylan screaming with joy brings a smile to my face. I cast a glance over at him just in time to see him staring at me, however he quickly looks away. Suddenly, for absolutely no reason at all, my cheeks turn bright red. Something about him.. No. I won't be having any of that.
"Where are we going anyways?!" I shout over the sound of Dover and Bear's hooves.
"You'll just have to wait and see!" He shouts back, a smirk spreading across his face.
Dylan gives Dover's sides a kick and sends the large black stallion bolting even faster through the dry meadow. Shooting me a sly glance, he laughs and shouts, "Race ya there!"
With one more swift kick, he quickly takes the lead, leaving me and Bear trailing behind.
"No you didn't!" I shouts, giving Bear a kick and sending him tearing after the other pair.
We finally catch up, our two stallions runny neck and neck. Teasing glares are exchanged and them smiles. Finally smiles.
"Here we are!" He finally shouts after what seems like hours of silence.
I look over to my right side, gazing at a beautiful lake and a group of Apple trees. Instantly amazed at the scenery, I slow Bear down to a walk and guide him over to the lake shore.
"How long have you known about this place?" My question comes as a whisper, hard to hear over the wind that had come out of no where.
"Not to long. A week, two. I don't know.." He speaks slowly as he runs his fingers through his black hair.
"Well it's amazing!" I shout, throwing off my sweat shirt and leaving only my black tank top on before leaping into the cold water.
Dylan follows, tossing off his black shirt and leaving his bare chest visible.
Okay, I have to admit, Dylan is hot. Super hot. Like hotter than any guy I've ever seen. But I don't feel that way about him. After all, he was my best friend and I definitely didn't want to ruin that. Ever.
"Are you coming or not?!" I holler, splashing water up onto the bank.
Without answering, he quickly dives into the water and disappears beneath the surface.
"Dylan!" I shout, diving beneath the surface and feeling the cold water cool my hot skin.
After a few seconds, I pop back up to the surface and gasp for air. Dylan was still no where to be seen. A sudden jolt of fear shoots through me and I take short, rapid breaths.
"DYLAN!" I scream at the top of my lungs, tears spilling out of my eyes.
Suddenly, something grabs my leg and pulls me under the water. Frantically kicking and slapping at the water, I attempt to scream, only to get a mouth full of lake water.
This is it..
I'm going to die.
Finally I pop back up to the surface, breathing heavily and coughing up mouthfuls of water.
Dylan's laugh breaks my panic.
"You asshole!" I shout, my eyes narrowed as I turn around and swim to shore.
"Ah, was someone scared?"
More like worried.." I mutter, to quite for him to actually hear.
Dylan follows me to the shore and I grab my sweat shirt, slipping it on over my wet tank top and shaking my wet hair.
"I wish you would have told me we were coming to the lake. I would have brought some towels and dry clothes." I say as I walk over to Bear, running my petite fingers over his smooth chestnut neck.
"Ya but that would have ruined the surprise." He replies, a smug look on his face.
Without another word, he moves over to Dover and we tie both the stallions to a nearby tree, then walk together over to a nice clear spot where we can dry off.
