~ Chapter 16 ~
"Did you miss me?"
Luke's voice comes from behind me. I whirl around, tears streaming down my face and gasping for breath.
"What the hell?!"
Without another word, I throw my arms around him only to find that he wasn't wearing a shirt.
"Calm down Kiana, I was just cliff diving."
A devilish smirk spreads across his face and I punch his REALLY toned stomach.
"Where is your shirt young man?"
I mimic what a mother would sound like, trying to control the tears and get my emotions back under control. I wipe my eyes on my shirt and heaves great sigh.
"NEVER, do that again. Got it?"
"I got it I got it."
He reaches over and pulls a soaking wet shirt from a tree, pulls it on and looks down the cliff.
"Want to try?"
"Hell no."
I turn around and climb onto the horse, gesturing to his and raising an eyebrow.
"I just want to go back to the dorm. I'm tired. It's been a ... Long day."
"Alright.."
He sighs and climbs on his horse and We begin to walk down the trail that leads back to the academy.
"So.. How's Bear?"
Shaking my head, I sigh and look at the ground.
"He's.. Fine.. I'm just upset I guess. Upset about the fact that I injured him just so I could prove my worth to the only other girl jockey here."
"Um.. Kiana?"
"Ya?"
"Christina's not a jockey.. Your the only girl who has ever dared to do something so crazy.."
My eyes widen and I pull my horse to a stop.
"What?! But I thought.."
"You thought wrong. I was going to tell you after you won the race.. But when you didn't I just didn't want to bring you any more bad news."
"So I really am the only girl jockey at the academy.."
The horses begin to walk again and we arrive at the stables. I hand over Sundrop and place my hands in my hoodie pockets.
"So.. See ya tomorrow?"
"Ya.. I guess so."
Luke runs his fingers through his hair and smiles, rocking back and forth on his heels. I turn around and begin to leave when suddenly he grabs me and kisses me. I close my eyes and fall into his arms.
Oh shit.
