~ Chapter 2 ~

"How dare you go out again Kiana!" My mothers shrill voice instantly brings irritation into my large ball of mixed emotions.

"Calm down mom. It's not like anything is going to happen to me anyways."

"You know that's not true! You could have been attacked by a mountain lion, or run over by a herd of horses! Or worse, even lost!"

"How is getting lost worse than getting attacked and run over?" I ask, a smirk plastered across my face.

"Joke all you want. Just wait till your father hears about this one."

Shit.

My face suddenly drops and I stop dead in my tracks.

"You won't tell him."

"Try me."

This can't be happening. If my dad finds out about this one then Pine Ridge academy is defiantly out of the question. I pick up an apple and turn around, my eyes narrowed and the look on my face meaning that I was serious now.

"You know what will happen if I tell him, don't you?" Her face was tinted with humor, and that pissed me off.

"I know what it means. And if you tell him then I will leave. Forever."

Silence.

"Mhm."

With a smug look on my face, I turn around and leave my mother alone in the kitchen.

Okay, yes, I defiantly treat my mother like crap. And I shouldn't. Not after everything she does for me. After all, she was the only one I felt as though I could tell absolutely everything to. Well, besides Bear that is. It wasn't my fault anyways. It was my dads. The prick was always breathing down my neck, telling me how much of a disappointment I was to him. Of course my mother never did anything about it, but at least she listens when I tell her about it..

"Something wrong?" The voice startles me, making me jump back.

I was in my room, and I turn around to see Dylan, my best friend since childhood, smiling at me from my window.

"No. I'm fine." I sort of grumble, not wanting to get into the details.

Dylan and I met when we were just babies. Out parents raises us together, and we have always been the best of friends. However, he doesn't exactly listen very well. But what do you expect from a guy?

"What are you doing here anyways?" I ask, raising an eyebrow and giving him a curious look.

"Just was out riding Dover and I decided to stop by."

Dover. One of the most beautiful horses you would ever see. A jet black thoroughbred stallion. A perfect racer and bred to be a champion. Dylan was defiantly lucky to have him.

"Hm.."

"Care to join me for a ride?" He asks, leaping down from the window and hoping on to Dover's back.

"I don't know.. My moms pretty upset with me right now. She might not like it."

"Since when have you ever cared about what she likes?" He asks, laughing and gesturing for me to follow.

I shrug, sliding out the window and jumping down into the pile of hay below.

"Nice landing."

"Thanks."

Grabbing my hair and quickly pulling it back into a pony tail, I run off into the sables and prepare Bear for yet another ride.
