sorry again took me a while to update. I've been working another fanfictions, one of which is an emison story, but i didn't publish it yet. So, now I'm gonna focus on my supercorp au story.

Kara's pov

I haven't seen Lena today. I wonder where she might be. She hasn't returned my message or call. I kinda miss her...

Okay fine, I really miss her. Her face, her voice, her scent, heck, i even miss her shadow. I must be crazy.

Anyway, time passed in school like it usually does. Dragging during classes and a little too fast during breaks. I survived it anyway, considering the occasional stuff mean kids throw at me like the snide remarks and locker pranks.

Winn's got STEM, and Maggie got detention. I got nothing, so I decided to check on Lena. Actually I got P.E., but screw it, I need to see Lena.

But before I did, I dropped by my mom's bakeshop that is also a cafe, called SuperSweets Bakeshop Cafe, to grab some blueberry muffins and latte. The place is crowded like usual since it opened and I couldn't be more proud of my mom. I went straight ahead the counter where I saw Alex, who just recently started to work there taking orders from regular patrons.

"Hey there, cuz!" I greeted her.

"Oh! Hey, Kara! What's up?"

"Just dropped by to grab muffins"

"There's a lot of muffins here, but the bestsellers are chocolate pecan pie muffins, raspberry muffins, buttermilk chocolate chip muffins and the glazed strawberry muffins. So, which is it?"

"Wow, you really are taking this seriously, way more serious than your AP classes...btw, do you ever plan to go back to school?"

"Uhm...not today. So, pick your muffin because we're packed and a little understaffed,"

Alex's dedication on her work made me smile. So typical of her to be so focused and driven. So as to not to bother her more I told her I want the blueberry muffins and two lattes. Then I went to see how my mom was doing. I saw her on the other side training another new staff to be the barista.

"Hey mom!" I called out.

"Hey there sweetie!" She turned and gave me a hug. "How's school?"

"Perfect as usual..." I hugged her back as equally tight as she did.

"Uh-hmn..." She looked at me knowingly. Mom's very much aware that I'm not the biggest fan of school. But then again all moms know everything." Tell me, you didn't skip your last period,"

"The teacher wasn't around, so..."I said bashfully. "So, how's the business doing?"

"Really quick to change the subject there, huh. Well, business's crazy as usual but I love it. Anyway, Kara, sweetie...this is Mike Matthews, our new barista," mom introduced me to her bakeshop cafe's newest staff member. "Mike, this is my precious baby girl, Kara."

"Mom...baby girl's bit big now...Hello, Mike..." I said giving him a little wave.

"Hello, miss Kara..." He said very politely.

"Oh please, drop the miss...it sounds weird...just Kara would do," I said.

"Okay, just Kara..." He said smiling.

"Haha, you're funny," I said and turned as I heard Alex called out."That's my muffin latte calling, I got to go mom. See you at home later,"

"Okay sweetie...don't stay out late, love you!"

"You don't stay out late working...love you, too mom!" I hugged her and nodded to Mike, "Nice to meet you, Mike. Bye..."

I waved to both of them and Alex too. Then, off I went to Lena's to see what she's been up to.

Mike's pov

Life's tough, sure, so you got to be tough too. That's how it has been for me. My mother's a bitter drunk, and my father's got another family, typical-traditional-conservative-happy kind of family. Actually, mom and I are the other family, the typical-not-so-traditional-never-happy kind of other family. I mean, that's just life, sometimes you come in second or you come in last.

But sometimes, life for people like me got a little brighter side to it. Bright side meaning miss Kara. Or "just Kara". Just where did I get that. Really dumb way to play cute. I know she's the boss's precious baby girl which also translates off limits, but I can't help it. She's beautiful and I'm dumbstruck the minute I saw her. But she sure can make me smile.

But let's just remind myself here, that I'm here for the job. And if I want to get myself out of this miserable bullshit of a life my mother showed me and my father left for me, I got to start saving up, go away. I've got to make my own life before life makes me. Anyway, Kara may already have a boyfriend, so... I better back off.

Still, I wonder if can have her phone number, or if we can be friends, because I don't have much. Just friends, it won't hurt to be just friends..right?
