Part 27: Rusty and Buffy

Alex's pov

Unbelievable!!

Mike said it's the last time, but he's at it again. I get it, he's got issues, but who doesn't. It's never an excuse for slacking off, especially when it involves me taking the bulk of his job.

Speaking of the little sluggard himself, Mike just waltz in like prince charming ready to sweep off some princess's feet. Twelve minutes late to be precise.

Honestly, Mike's really a nice guy. But he's got most of his focus somewhere else. And this job, this business that's a total hit to everyone, needs the focus of it's entire crew...

Kara's pov

It snapped again.

It's the nth time I changed the strings in my guitar and it keeps snapping anyway.

"Maybe you should get a new one..." Lena said as she typed in her laptop. "there's a countless list of guitars sale online, do you want to check it out?,"

We're at the SuperSweets, sitting at one of the tables outside, waiting for the wonder twins to show up. The four of us agreed to go together at the Kentwood High annual talent show auditions. More like the three of them agreed to throw me on the stage today for slaughter and I'm just going along with it.

"No...I want to keep this one," I said as I kept struggling to put new set of strings on this century old guitar of mine.

"Why? By the looks of it, it clearly needs a replacement...not just the strings but the entire thing,"

"I know...but still, I wanna keep it,"

"But why?"

"It's my dad's..." I said, remembering how Dad loved this guitar.

Dad first taught Clark how to play it. I used to watch them in the living room while mom was making some experimental pie in the kitchen. Of course, Clark's never interested in music 'cause all he can think of even then was flying. I eventually picked up what dad's been teaching him, until Dad decided to give me his guitar so I can keep on practicing.

"Oh...sorry, I didn't mean to...I didn't know," Lena apologized, but there's nothing to apologize for really. Had it been me in her position, I would suggest to throw this piece of junk too.

But pissed as I may be at him, I still want to keep something of my dad's.

"It's okay...I just got to fix this, get it in tune before the auditions...btw, what's Maggie's talent now? Other than bring out the inner bitch in everyone..." I said changing the subject.

"She's going to show off some of Buffy's latest tricks...same as last year,"

"Buffy?"
