Part 42 : Escape

Alex's pov

Every one is very passionate with their school spirit.

The opposing team in green are tied with the girls in blue of Kentwood High, one goal apiece, and the game clock is ticking down to its last few minutes. Every one is up on their feet cheering for their teams, including myself and the three musketeers I am with.

The ball was taken by the green shirt team from the blue shirts at the onset of last two minutes. The passing, the kicking, all of it was very intense. The crowd is yelling way louder than ever.

The Thornhill Academy Thunder is looking to score when one of their star players just received the ball from a teammate's pass, kicking the ball forward, aiming for the net. She kicked it hard, only to be intercepted by a girl in blue that has 'Luthor 7' on the back of her shirt.

Kara roared gleefully beside me, a dozen decibels higher than everybody else at the action. With the seconds winding down, and the ball was passed and kicked around by the blue shirts across the field, all supporters are on the edge of their sanity at the rush of the game.

Then, as the ball flew in the air on its way to a well aimed striker that is Lena, just about ten ticking seconds to spare, she jumped high to meet the ball midair with her head and hit it towards the net. Thornhill's keeper failed to deflect the ball, resulting to one sweet goal for Kentwood High Grizzlies, courtesy of Lena.

Everyone in blue shouted and screamed in euphoria for their team's victory.

Lena's pov

And the party begins...

The rest of the team, myself and the coaches jumped around all over the field earlier after our win in today's match. We hugged one another, exchanged congratulations to everyone, including Thornhill Academy's team. It was a close game, we all did our best.

I just got lucky, getting that ball into the net at the last few seconds of the game. Now, everyone is in celebration mode, having pizza galore party at Pop's.

"Well done, Luthor!!" team captain Barbara showed up out of nowhere and squeezed me tight in one big hug, "for a moment there I thought you'd miss and get bitch slapped by the ball again,"

"Uhm... yeah me too," I huffed, wincing at her tight grip around me.

"Lena!!!" Winn and Maggie called out the minute they stepped in at Pop's. Followed by Kara, whose sky blue eyes met mine from across the crowded pizzeria.

I wiggled out of Barbara's grip right away, excused myself and met my friends and Kara.

"Hey guys!!" I greeted them with a hug.

"Way to go champ!!" Winn said.

"There she is, MVP!!" Maggie teased on the other hand.

"Okay, that's enough... go grab yourselves some pizza over there,... All that screaming must have starved you," I literally pushed both of them on the other side where the rest of the crowd devoured piles of pizza. Then I turned to Kara, "Hey there gorgeous!"
