Alex's pov
Every thing she said burned in the back of my mind.
What Maggie told me that night was something you usually hear in telenovelas. Crazy as it may be, being around in a houseful of guys with guns, wearing sunglasses everywhere, but Maggie was trying to be honest with me, revealing things she isn't so comfortable in sharing.
And I appreciate it, respect her for it. I like her even more now for opening up to me.
"Alex, I need you to be in-charge for today at SuperSweets, I'll be out taking care of a few things today... I'll have Kara help you, so it wouldn't be so difficult,"
Aunt Eliza snapped me out of my reverie and gave me specific instructions on today's tasks at the cafe. She still seemed off to me but I dare not ask my queries, her possible answers are a bit scary for me.
"Sure thing, Aunt... I'll just clean up here and I'll be off to the cafe,"
"Alright then, bye... Take care both of you," she said and left me in the kitchen.
Kara's still upstairs in her room, either sleeping or exchanging messages with Lena in her phone. I'm just gonna go barge in there to know for sure and drag her out of bed.
I know she's still in bed, because it's seven forty in the morning on a Saturday, and almost everyone just loves to lazy around on a weekend morning.
But not me. I'm always your typical early bird kind of gal, whatever the day is...

Lena's pov
"What is this I'm hearing about you and that girl next door Kara?!"
Mom said over her bagel and huge coffee mug by the kitchen counter. Dad went to his office just to stay out of Mom's way, and Mike is nowhere to be found. After all the huge fights, Dad was able to convince Mike to stick around, despite Mom's apparent and always adamant disapproval. But so far, the shouting and stuff throwing toned down a notch. Just a teeny weeny bit notch...
"Lena!"
"What about Kara, mom?" I said, putting up my defiant face on.
"Yesterday at school, I've heard rumors about you and that Kara Danvers are... involved,"
"You mean romantically?" I said mockingly as I grabbed the jars of peanut butter and jelly for my sandwich, "like dating? A Couple?"
"Is this true?"
I didn't say a word. I kept my mouth shut as I kept going making my peanut butter and jelly sandwich.
"Lena?! Is this true??!" Mom pressed on as she glared at me over the rim of her coffee mug, "This is not what normal girls do, or how they should behave themselves. This is not how we... how I raised you, Lena. Tell me, dear daughter, it's just some sick rumor being played at you,"
I took a deep breath and looked Mom dead straight in the eye. Against all the nerves and reservations I have about this, I braced myself for a morning of confrontation with mother.
"It is true, dear mother. I am dating Kara. I have been for a little bit while now, and I'm happy... I'm not sure of what your definition of normal girls is, but if I don't fit in that definition of yours or particular standards, so be it..."
I left Mom with her mouth open in shock before shock turns into fury. I grabbed my pbj sandwich along with my bag and went off to my soccer game.
"Lena!! You don't talk to me like that!... Get back here! You dare not turn your back on me??!!!"
I heard Mom bellow her lungs out after me. I just kept
til I reached my car in the garage. I put all of my stuff on the backseat and went inside, slamming its door as I settled in. Then, I played some song from that band Hey Violet loudly and drove off a little fast for my own good, squealing the tires as I left my neighborhood. Doesn't matter now if she won't come and watch me play. Or Dad, since he hasn't texted me to confirm his seat.At least I know my friends Winn and Maggie's gonna be there.
And more importantly, Kara's gonna be there too...

Alex's pov
"But Lena's got soccer game today!"
Lena here, Lena there...geez, I have never heard Kara say one whole freakin' sentence today without Lena in it. It's almost annoying, if I didn't think its really cute.
"How about a little compromise here, 'cause I don't wanna get into trouble with your mom..." I suggested, though I'm trying to rack my brain how to make an arrangement with Kara in this bustling, busy day at the cafe.
"Okay..." She said as she transferred the croissants from the oven trays to the large basket on display.
"Uhm... What time is her game again now?"
"Two p.m. today, Alex... Winn and Maggie are coming, too! We're all cheering for Lena in this really really important game," Kara said stressing the word important.
"Maggie's gonna be there?" My head snapped though at the mention of Maggie and turned to Kara.
Of course Maggie's gonna be there, she and Lena have been best friends with Winn for forever.
"Uh-huh... Why?"
"Nothing... Okay, here's the deal.... If your mom comes back before one thirty, we will both go, since I'm half day on Saturdays and go watch Lena's soccer game. But if not, we'll both stick around until your mom gets back,"
"What?! But I have to be there for Lena!... How about you stick around until mom gets back and I'm gonna go see Lena play soccer," she smiled sheepishly.
Oh dear lord. Is this all she can think of? I gotta stand my ground and insist we both stay, 'cause if not Aunt Eliza's gonna ask questions that might just make her mood cloudy with a chance of thunder and lightning in it.
"You're mom's gonna ask questions I honestly don't want to be the one to answer, let's just wait for her okay..."
Kara pouted as she went back to bring out some more croissants, since it seems to be one of the bestsellers every single day...
