Samuel disappeared. I felt like I was going to be sick. I was shaking violently. I wanted to scream. My brother was going to destroy us all. Violet was trying to comfort me. I couldn't calm down. Pain shot up my wings. It was a memory pain. Every time I thought about that day, I got memory pains in my wings.
"How come nobody mentioned Pit's older brother is a Darkling?" Viridi asked.
"How come you can't mind your own business?" I snapped. Viridi opened her mouth to argue, but Lady Palutena held up her hand.
"Pit, now that the world is in danger, I think you can tell everybody about your brother." she said. "If you don't feel comfortable telling something, then you don't have to."
"Fine." I said. "It happened when I was six."
"How old are you?" Pittoo asked.
"In human years?" I asked. "I'm 44. But in angel years, I'm 14. Angels don't age as fast as humans. Once we reach a certain age we stop aging and become immortal."
"I didn't know that." Phosphora said.
"Anyway, according to my sister, Samuel had killed our older sister and was poisoning me. I got really sick. One day in spring, Minka and Samuel were arguing and he pushed her over the ledge and disappeared. When the guards went to look for her, all they found was snow. There was a blizzard on the Overworld. I ended up jumping off the ledge. I made my way to the Downworld and discovered that Minka had left for the North Mountain. I was about to go after her when Samuel came. He lit my wings on fire. Lady Palutena saved me, and that's how I ended up serving her. It's also why I can't fly." I said.
"I thought you never were able to fly." Pittoo said.
"No. All angels are born with the ability to fly. We learn to fly right after we learn to walk." I replied. "My brother is a sociopath. He can't feel empathy. He hurts people either for fun or because he feels threatened by them. He betrayed his own family. I hate him." There was a lot of bitterness in my voice. It shocked me how bitter I could get.
"Well the world is in danger and I have no idea what to do." Lady Palutena said.
"But you always have a plan." I pointed out.
"Don't worry, I have an idea. We, and by 'we' I mean you, are going to see Apollo, the God of Prophecies." she said. "Go get your bow."
I ran upstairs. I grabbed my key and opened my door. I grabbed my Palutena Bow, that I hid under my bed. I never get a break. I must be prepared at all times. I had to deal with another god today. Gods were always unpredictable. One wrong move and you could be incinerated.
I ran out the door. My wings started to glow. Underworld monsters decided they'd greet me. They were either working for Samuel or trying to revive Hades on their own. If I had to choose, I'd say they were working for Samuel. Underworld monsters just weren't smart enough to revive Hades on their own.
"You're absolutely right." Lady Palutena said. She spoke to me telepathically while I was on missions. "I sense your brother made a deal with them."
"Can you please NOT call that traitor my brother?" I asked.
"Sorry, Pit. I forgot about your resentment towards him." she said. "Apollo's Temple should be coming into view." On the horizon was a golden temple. There was a large statue of Apollo in the center.
"Apollo is the REAL sun god. He is also the god of medicine, poetry, archery, and music. His twin sister, Artemis, is the goddess of the moon, hunt, archery, and maidens. She is the eternal maiden. She runs around with a group of immortal maidens known as the Hunters of Artemis. They a two of the children of Zeus." Lady Palutena said. "As you can imagine, Apollo and Artemis don't really get along. So it's best not to mention Artemis in Apollo's presence."
"Thanks Lady Palutena." I replied.
"Good luck!" she said.
She dropped me off at the temple's entrance. I the doorway stood a teenager with blond hair. He wore a gold tunic and sunglasses. He was leaning on a staff. He had an iPod that he was listening to. I approached him. He held out his hand and I shook it.
"Ah. Pit, so nice to finally meet Palutena's little helper. The bow, nice weapon choice. But I suppose I'm being biased. I'm Apollo, God of the Sun, Medicine, Poetry, Archery, Prophecy, and Music. You're here for information on how to stop your brother." I flinched. "Palutena, you might as well listen in, you're going to need to give him the Power of Flight to get him to his destinations."
"I'm listening." Lady Palutena said.
"First, you'll need to see the Ice Queen. She lives in the secluded parts of the North Mountain. Can't miss her castle. Be warned. She doesn't like visitors and the Darkling will try to stop you from reaching her." Apollo said.
"Got it." I said.
"Next, you'll need to see the Lady of the Shores. She lives in a secluded part of the Southern Beach. Again, can't miss her castle. She's a little more welcoming than the Ice Queen, but not much. Also the Darkling will try to stop you from getting to her too." he said. "What else? Oh right, I almost forgot. Avoid the Darkling as much as possible. He will try to strip you of your wings and kill you. Good luck. You can extract him now Palutena."
Golden light appeared. It grabbed me and I was back in Skyworld. I went to bed. Tomorrow I had to go see the Ice Queen. I had to make myself sleep. But sleeping meant nightmares. Eventually my body took over and I went to sleep. I regretted it immediately.
