Samuel laughed. Violet and I were exhausted and beaten up. He drew his sword. He lunged at Violet. But Violet was one step ahead of him and dodged, quick as a cat. I notched an arrow and fired at Samuel. It sunk into his left arm. He let out a cry of pain. There was anger in his eyes.
Before he could respond, Violet put her dagger into his leg. He smacked her across the face. I filled with rage and hatred. Suddenly Samuel flew backwards, like he'd been hit. He picked up his sword and cut my arm. Pain erupted in my arm. I bit my lip to prevent myself from crying out. I was not going to show weakness.
Violet drove her knife into his arm. He hit her with his other, knocking her down. He started to kick her. He raised his sword, ready to plunge it into her chest. I pulled out my dagger and sliced at his legs. I knocked him down. Violet was unconscious. I had to protect her.
Samuel got up and charged at me. I dodged. I pulled out my bow and broke it into two blades. I tried to preform a melee attack, but he dodged. He raised his hand and a wave of Darkness washed over me. I felt my consciousness slipping away. I had to stay conscious. If I didn't, it would be all over. No, I wasn't going to let him win. I had no choice.
I tried to call light from deep within. Suddenly, the darkness was replaced with light. Samuel was on the ground. I felt like vomiting. I had used too much energy. Violet was standing, but I could tell she was dazed. She grabbed Samuel's sword while he was down and picked up her dagger.
Violet pointed the sword at Samuel's neck. She was shaking with anger. There were tears streaming down her face. She was absolutely terrified with idea of killing Samuel. I carefully put my hand around her hand that was on the hilt.
"Let go." I ordered gently.
She let go. I knew I had to kill my brother. I had absolutely no choice. He was too far on the side of darkness. There was no way he'd ever be good. He was a hopeless case. If I let him live, he'd continue to wreak havoc. He'd destroy us all.
"Any final words, Samuel?" I asked.
"You don't have the guts to kill me, little brother." he said.
"You underestimate me. That's your fatal mistake." I said.
He laughed. I drove the sword into his stomach. His twisted smile turned into a look of shock, like he didn't actually believe I'd do it. He crumpled to the ground. I had killed my only brother with his own sword. Violet wrapped her arms around me. She was crying. Oddly enough, I didn't feel anything at all. This feeling scares me. All I knew is that it was over, or so I thought.
