9. The Missing Key

My heart grew warmer. The uncaringness went away. I looked at my reflection in the ice that formed on the walls. My hair was its usual brown and my wings their usual white. There were charred places on my wings where Samuel had burned them. I was still extremely pale, by my color was slowly returning. Minka was in shock.

"Your heart's been thawed." she said. "But how?"

I shrugged. She pulled out the Violet Palm and handed it to me. Violet! She could be in terrible danger right now. But first I had to get out of this place. I was still weak, but I put the palm on and started to fight. We ran down the corridor. I stumbled. Minka grabbed ahold of my arm and supported me. A portal appeared and we ran through it.

On the other side was Viridi's domain. She was talking to Phosphora, Arlon, Violet, and Hades. They all turned to us. We must have shocked them. Violet ran up and tackled me with a hug.

"Pit!" she cried. "You're back to normal! But how'd you figure out how to unthaw your heart?"

"I didn't. It just happened." I replied.

"I know." said a familiar voice. It was Apollo. "Pit committed an act of love by pushing Minka from danger. Love unthaws a frozen heart."

"Love?" Minka said.

"Pit was willing to sacrifice himself to save you." Apollo said. "It was an act of true love to be exact."

"True love?" Minka asked. "Love. That's the missing key."

"What do you mean?" I asked.

"Love is the key to defeating Samuel." she said. "We can't fight him. He's too strong. You, Margret, and I combined barely match his strength. So if we can't fight him, we have to love him. What is the saying? Kill 'em with kindness."

"What are you going to do?" Hades asked. "Kiss him."

"There's more than one type of love." Minka replied. "Pit just demonstrated one type. The love between siblings. There's also love between partners, love between parent and child, love for friends, love for pets, and familial love. There's more, but that's all that comes to mind."

"We also need to find True Light." I said. "In case he decides to chain us with darkness."

"You can take care of the chains, Pit." Margret said. "You did when he had us imprisoned. But you're absolutely right. We should find some just in case."

"But do any of us know where to find any?" I asked. Minka raised her hand. She ran up to me a grabbed my hand. Frost started to crawl up my arm. "Minka?! What are you doing?"

"Calm down. Just focus on repelling my ice." she said. I felt my arm get warmer. The ice melted. Minka cried out like she'd been burnt. "That's why Sammy wanted to kill Pit."

"What do you mean?" Lady Palutena asked.

"He possesses True Light." Minka replied.
