A New Threat (Kid Icarus Fan Fic)

11. A Plan

"First things first. You need allies." Lady Palutena said.

"Allies?" I asked.

"The Olympians, nymphs, and Downworlders." Lady Palutena said.

"What exactly are 'Downworlders'?" Arlon asked.

"Downworlders are the outcasts. The people and creatures society doesn't want." I replied. "Vampires, werewolves, witches, wizards, warlocks, fallen angels, demons, faeries, cyclopes,  trolls, dwarves, and other creatures/people society has deemed 'Undesirable'. They're going to be the hardest to convince."

"Why?" Viridi asked.

"Downworlders don't trust outsiders." I said. "First thing Downworlders learn is don't tell anyone anything. The only way they'll give you information is when you bribe them. In the Downworld, silence is golden. Giving out information is a good way to get you killed in the Downworld. They don't trust anyone, especially gods and their servants. So forming an alliance with them is going to be hard."

"It's simple." Minka said. "The Downworld is in my domain, so you'll tell them if they form an alliance with you, then after Samuel is defeated, I, the Ice Queen, will end the eternal winter. Then you'll help me figure out my powers and the winter will end. If they refuse I'll punish them with the worst blizzard they've ever seen. You won't tell them that though."

"That sounds like an excellent plan." I said sarcastically. "Now tell me how I get the leaders of the Downworld together, without anybody getting killed."

"I'll send an ice message to them and tell them to meet me in my castle." Minka said.

"When?" I asked.

"Later. For now we all need to rest." she replied.

We returned to Skyworld. Hades, Viridi, and Lady Palutena put a barrier around Skyworld. Minka had a blizzard covering the northern and eastern skies. Margret had a hurricane covering the southern and western skies. Skyworld was completely un-accessible from outside forces. The Underworld Army, the Forces of Nature, and Palutena's Army were patrolling Skyworld.

Violet had left for the City of Angels. I wondered about my mother and father. I missed them. I hadn't seen them since I left. Fallen angels weren't allowed to see their families. I was not a fallen angel, but I was close enough to one that I wasn't allowed to speak with my family. I wondered if they thought about my sisters, Samuel, and I. They never knew Samuel was evil. It was better they didn't know.

I went to bed. I couldn't sleep. I not only did my wings hurt, but I was also worrying about the weight on my shoulders. I had a huge responsibility. I was responsible for the fate of the entire world. I eventually fell to sleep, but I woke several times during the night.

"We have no clue where Samuel is hiding, or how he's getting information." Lady Palutena said.

"I do." Pit said. Everybody was staring at me, confused. "Minka mentioned he was watching me. He must be listening in, and that's how he's getting information. As for where he's hiding, it's either in the east or west, but I'd be more prone to say the west."

"Why?" Viridi asked.

"Well, were in the east right now. Minka resides in the north. Margret lives in the south. So it's natural he'd want to stay as far away from Margret, Minka, and I. That and he represents darkness. The sun rises in the east and sets in the west. The sun setting brings the darkness of night." I replied.

"For once Pitty's the know-it-all and not Palutena." Hades said. "Tell me when did you actually get smart?" I rolled my eyes and ignored him.

"The problem is we don't know exactly where in the west. He could be anywhere." I said. "Minka how were you watching me?"

"I was using a table I'd frozen with magical ice. I enchanted it to show me what I wanted to see, which was you." she said.

"Do you think you could do the spell again, only this time to show us Samuel." I asked.

"I don't know." she said. "It depends on the precautions he has taken. For you it was simple, because you don't put a block on your mind. But him, I'm pretty sure he wouldn't be that naïve."

"Can you try?" I asked.

"I'll try." she promised.

"In the meantime, I have to gather allies. The rest of you, can you help Minka?" I asked.

They all agreed. We had a plan. But Samuel probably knew it. Which means he'll try at nothing to stop us. We were in war.
