I was standing outside the bar I had gone to the day Minka fell from the City of Angels. I have come here repeatedly since then, asking for information on random things. Like when I was investigating a series of murders committed by vampires. The way to get information out of Downworlders was, money. Bribe 'em, and they'll sing like canaries. The way they saw it, if they were hunted down for giving you information, they could try to bribe their attackers.

Minka was with me. She looked intimidating. Her white-blond hair was pulled into a messy braid. Her dress was light blue and sparkling, like it was made of ice. Her eyes were icy and cold looking. She wore dark eye shadow, dark, red lipstick, eyeliner, and mascara. Her wings looked more icy than usual. She said she wanted to look intimidating to show the Downworlders she meant business.

We headed up the North Mountain. We came to her castle. The snow guards, which weren't there last time, bowed respectfully to Minka. I still couldn't get over the fact my sister was the Ice Queen. The heads of the Downworld were already there. There was a vampire, werewolf, faerie, and witch. Minka invited them inside.

"Why have you called us here, your majesty?" the vampire asked.

"I have called you here to discuss forming an alliance with Pit. I am only the middle man in this matter." Minka replied.

"Why would we form an alliance with him? What leverage does he have?" the witch asked.

"If you form an alliance with him, I will try to end this eternal winter. It shall benefit the whole Downworld." Minka said

"And if we don't?" the faerie asked.

"Do you really want to find out?" Minka countered.

They huddled together. They were discussing their options. They had no leverage to blackmail us. We had all the leverage. If they refused, they'd be punished horribly. Minka said she had an idea on how to end the winter.

"Throw in $100 each and you got a deal." the werewolf said.

Of course they'd ask for money. Greed was present in all Downworlders' character. It was present in all living creatures' character. Every living creature was greedy in someway.

"No." Minka said. "You'll form an alliance with Pit, no money. Or else the Downworld will be punished in ways you could never imagine. I don't think your people will be very happy when they find out you could have ended the winter, but had to ask for money."

"No deal." the vampire said.

"I can assure you no amount of money will save you when they find out about this deal you didn't agree to. I can assure you I will make no effort to keep this quiet." Minka said. "Now, you either agree or you can go start writing your wills."

They frowned. They huddled together and started discussing their options. Minka had backed them into a corner. They really didn't have a choice. Agree to the alliance or die. They broke apart again.

"$50 each or no deal." the faerie said. "Our final offer."

"$25." Minka said. "Not a penny more."

"Deal." they said in unison.

Minka pulled out a contract. She handed the vampire a pen. Each Downworlder signed it in what looked like blood. They left. Minka smiled at me.

"We did it." she said. "Now we're ready to face Samuel."

"Not quite." Lady Palutena said. "Come back to Skyworld and I'll explain more." Minka and I got on the Lightning Chariot and left for Skyworld.
