6. An Unexpected Hero

I woke up in the infirmary in Skyworld. My wings hurt so bad. I tried to sit up, but I nearly blacked out trying. I felt like I was six years old again. I felt sick. Violet was sitting in a chair, sleeping. The pain was intense. I felt like I was going to puke. I grabbed the basin beside the table and vomited. Violet woke up. She rubbed my back.

"Sh. It's okay." she said. I kept getting sick. When I was done Violet grabbed the basin and cleaned it. She set it on the bedside table.  Lady Palutena came in.

"Thanks goodness you're alive, Pit." she said. "We were worried you wouldn't make it. You won't be able to fight or fly for a while though. Not to mention your heart's still freezing. Lord Apollo said we should keep a fire going to keep you warm. He said it helps slow the process."

"I have to fight Hades." I said weakly.

"Don't worry about that, Pittoo's taking care of that situation." Lady Palutena said. "Right now you need to focus on getting better. Violet and Viridi are going to find a way to thaw you. Right now Viridi is controlling Pittoo's flight path."

Lady Palutena and Violet left. I passed out again. The nightmares were awful. I was watching Pittoo battle Samuel. They were at Skyworld. I thought Lady Palutena said Pittoo was battling Hades? Samuel hit Pittoo hard enough to knock him out, but not kill him. An Underworld monster appeared.

"Take him to my palace." he said. He walked inside Lady Palutena's temple.

"What are you doing here?" Lady Palutena demanded.

"To set my plan in motion." he replied.

Suddenly chains of darkness appeared around Lady Palutena's wrists and ankles. She vanished. Samuel walked into the infirmary. I saw myself tossing and turning. Samuel put the fire out and went towards me. I tried to wake up, but couldn't. Suddenly a black wall appeared between Samuel and I. Armies of the dead popped out of the ground and pinned Samuel down. Hades walked in.

"Now, now." he said. "You can't attack your enemy when he's unconscious." Hades relit the fire. Samuel struggled against the dead.

"You're supposed to be working for me!" Samuel said. Hades started to laugh.

"Oh little Darkling. You say your brother is naïve, but I think you're just as naïve." Hades said. "I'm a god. I work for no one. True, your brother's not the sharpest pitchfork in the barn, but if he were evil, I doubt he'd be stupid enough to expect a god to do his dirty work."

"You're a fool, just like Minka and Margret. They could have been the most powerful beings, but they decided to work against me. You're just like them." Samuel said. "Well you all are on the wrong side. I just need a few more pieces of the puzzle."

"Which are?" Hades asked.

"You think I'm that stupid. Pit is listening in, why would I say what I need in front of him?" Samuel snapped. He vanished into darkness. Viridi ran in. The dream ended and I woke up.

"Hades!" Viridi and I said at the same time. Both Hades and Viridi turned to me. I was weaker than what I was when I fell asleep.

"Why hello to you too, Pitty-Pat. Might I say your looking quite, frosty." Hades said. "What happened to you?"

"Um... My sister may or may not have frozen my heart." I replied. I was hit with a wave of coldness. "Speaking of, I think my sisters are in danger. He's already got Pittoo and Lady Palutena."

"What do you mean?" Viridi demanded.

"I saw him take them." I said. "I have to go see Minka."

I tried to move but my knees buckled. Viridi came and helped me up. She grabbed a blanket and wrapped it around me. She helped me over to the fire. I was shivering.

"Did you figure out how to reverse this?" I asked.

"From what I read, the only one who can reverse your frozen heart, is Minka, since she's the one who caused this." Viridi replied.

"Well then, what are we waiting for? Take me to the North Mountain." I said.

"I can't. For several reasons. 1) You can't fly, at all, at least not until your wings are healed. 2) You leave the fire, your heart will become completely frozen in a matter of minutes. And 3) Minka's so upset, she's caused a blizzard in the area surrounding the North Mountain. If I send you there, even if your heart isn't completely frozen by the time you get there, you'll most likely freeze to death." she replied.

"Don't worry." Hades said. "I'll convince the Ice Queen to come."

"Why would you want to help me?" I demanded.

"Because, if you die, your brother will destroy the world. I can't exactly rule the world if it's destroyed." Hades said. "So really, it's in my best interest to save you." I opened my mouth, but Hades cut me off. "I promise no harm will come to your sister. Scout's Honor." Viridi had a doubtful look on her face. She was considering it.

"We don't have a choice. But you'll take Violet along with you. But if you do any harm to either Violet or Minka, I will use a reset bomb and turn the Underworld into my domain, right after I kill you." Viridi said. "In the mean time, I'll be staying with Pit, to make sure Samuel doesn't get to him. Remember I'll be watching."

"Deal." Hades said. He and Viridi shook on it.
