It had been three weeks since Esme had asked me to stay. In those short weeks, these 7 people had become my semi family.
Esme and Carlisle had become the parental figures that I haven't had. Esme always checking in, and always wanting to talk about my past. Carlisle reminding me to feed, and somehow always knowing when I want to flee.
Emmett had become my annoying big brother. He always took the chance to make fun of me. Despite this, I loved him as if he was truly my family.
His wife on the other hand, had become more than just a best friend or sister. Surprising me, Rosalie had taken the most interest to me. She made sure I felt secure in every situation, and was always the one to chase after me the few times I did try to flee. Rosalie had become what was not unlike my other half.
Edward kept me on my toes. He was the musician, and hated being shown up when I played piano. Competition had become our playful game. Always seeing who was better.
Alice was special, and in a good way. She had explained to me that her and Jasper were only best friends before the first day was even over. I knew she had seen something of the future she wasn't telling me, but I was okay with it. I enjoyed going shopping with Alice. She was my own personal entertainment.
Then there was Jasper. He was an amazing work of art. We spent the most time together. From hunting together to simply taking walking around the forest. I had strong feeling for him, and I knew he was aware due to his power. Yet he never made a move. He both confuses and amazes me at the same time.

"Adeline," I heard Jasper say from downstairs.
I was down beside him in a flash, "You called?"
"Yes ma'am I did. I was wondering if you would accompany me out today?"
"Why yes sir. I would love to," I said with a smirk.
One thing that I truly enjoyed about Jasper was the commonness of our southern backgrounds. Jasper's southern hospitality made him feel like home.
"So where are we going?" I asked later as we got into his car.
"It's a surprise," he stated smirking.
"Why can't we just run there?"
"Because that takes away the fun."
I sighed at his answer and stared out the window letting my thoughts wonder.
What if my feelings for Jasper weren't shared? Maybe he'd be better off with Alice? Maybe he'd be better off with out me?
The feeling of fleeing was suddenly so strong I couldn't take it. I held on the door handle debating throwing myself out of the car. Just when I was about to do it, the car stopped.
"Time for your surprise my lady."
Trying to contain my fear I followed Jasper as he walked towards a clearing. As soon as we both got into the light, it was as if to disco balls had be set in the clearing.
"I know you're wondering why I dragged you all the way out here, but I promise it's worth it," Jasper smiled at me, "Mind sitting with me ma'am?"
I couldn't help but laugh as I sat on the ground next to him.
"Adeline, I know I haven't known you very long, but I can't hold back any longer. I know you feel strongly towards me, and I feel the same about you. Alice and Carlisle believe we're mates, and I whole heartedly believe them," Jasper paused, "Adeline will you please stop me from rambling and become my lady?"
I smiled, pretending as if I was thinking.
"Yes. A million times yes."
Jasper smiled at me, and slowly leaned in to kiss me. I met his lips with the same slow softness he had started with.
And in that moment, everything was perfect. Sadly that moment was shortly lived.
-
By the time we arrived back at the Cullen household, I had made up my mind. I need to flee, I couldn't stay around any longer than I had. I knew it was likely that Alice had already seen my try to run, but deep down I didn't care; I knew it was right.
"Adeline, whats wrong?" Jasper could feel my nervousness, I knew.
"Nothing," I said carefully, "I'm just thinking of the future."
As we pulled into the Cullen driveway, I saw Edward, Alice, and Rosalie all standing at the front door; ready to run after me. I waited until Jasper had opened my door before smiling at him.
"Thank you," I tried to keep my face as blank as possible, "And I'm sorry."
I ran as fast as I could, trying to ignore the four vampires racing after me. I had no clue where I was going, but that kept Alice from seeing my next move.
'Edward," I thought knowing he was listening, 'I have to do this. He's better off; you're all better off.'
I heard one vampire stop running after me, and I knew it was Edward. He was taking in what I was saying.
'You don't know why I travel alone. All I do is bring pain and suffering. I love him too much to bring that to him. I love all of you too much to hurt any of you. You opened up your home to a girl you didn't even know, but now it's time to let her go.'
With my final thought, I made the mistake of slowing just a tad, forgetting to focus on what I was trying to do. I suddenly felt strong arms around me holding me in place. I kicked at my holder yelling at them and telling them to let me go.
"NO," Rosalie yelled back at me, "I'm not letting go, and I'm not letting you destroy yourself. You're coming home with us and you're going to be okay. I promise."
Rosalie said the last sentence softer than all the other harsher sentences she had said.
I gently sighed, "Fine. Though only if you let me go. I won't run this time."
I could tell Rosalie was hesitating before Edward reassured her, "She won't. She's willing to talk this time."

This should be fun.
