The Southern Thing

In the the days after my day and talk with Rose, I was in a terrible head space. I kept going back to my vision and the reasoning that could be behind it. I did not allow myself to show my emotions to my family; I kept on a very happy face and dismissed everyone who questioned the truthfulness. I knew eventually I would have to be honest, but I found that I wasn't ready yet.
Much to my favor, there where bigger things going on in the Cullen/Hale household than my secret. Today was the day Edward was bringing his human girlfriend home to met us all formally. Let's just saw some of us where less than excited.
"Do we have to do this? Why can't we just not and make her go away?"
"Right? I agree with Adeline. She's just going to get us into trouble with the Volturi," Rose and I shared a look as she said that horrible word.
"Girls," Esme started calmly, "Bella is Edward's mate. Get used to her being around, she'll be around for a very long time."
"She means forever," Alice chimed in, "I've seen it. She becomes one of us."
"Burn me before it happens," I muttered bitterly to Rose.
I felt a wave of calmness being pushed my direction and looked over to see Jasper looking at me concerned. I quickly blocked my emotions and sent a fake large smile his direction. I knew he knew it was fake, but I choose not to show that I cared.
'Adeline,' at the sound of my name I began listening to his thoughts, 'if you're listening, which you probably are because you are quite nosy.'
I quickly stuck my tongue out at him before he continued.
'I want to talk later, just you and I. Perhaps then you can tell me whatever you told Rosalie that upset you so very much. I love you and I just want to see you truly happy, ma'am.'
I met Jasper's eyes before slowly nodding my head yes, agreeing to talk to him.
"Jasper, we should go hunting before Bella arrives," Alice spoke from the window.
"She's right Jas. We all know nothing will happen, but you both haven't fed in quite a while," I agreed.
"Oh! While they go hunting you can help the us make food for Bella, Adeline!"
"You are so lucky I can not say no to you Esme," I replied with a soft smile.

"I smell the human."
I became suddenly aware of Bella the second she walked into our home, I almost wished I had gone hunting with Alice and Jasper. Being with the human smell at school was much different then what I smelled with one single human around. It was almost more tempting.
I leaned over to Rose who was tossing a salad, "We still have the opportunity to poison her food."
"NO. You did not," Esme responded sternly.
Rose and I both looked at each other with defeated looked on our face.
Bella and Edward finally entered the kitchen side by side.
"Bella. We are making Italiano for you."
"This is Esme, my mother for all intents and purposes," Edward introduced.
There were a few Italian words expressed between Bella and Esme, before Carlisle spoke.
"You have given us an an excuse to us the kitchen for the first time."
"I hope you're hungry."
I love Esme so much, this wonderful lady is trying to hard to make this horrid human feel so welcome.
"Oh absolutely."
Yes our work wasn't all for nothing.
"She already ate."
Ugh that little- My thoughts were cut off when Rosalie broke the glass salad bowl she was holding.
"I just assumed because you guys don't eat..."
"That's very considerate of you." There goes Esme again, being too nice.
"Ignore her. I do. Same with Adeline."
"Edward I seriously have not even done anything since you walked in with the human also known as Volturi magnet," I said aggravated.
"Yes, let's pretend this isn't dangerous for all of us," Rose said continuing off of my Volturi statement.
"I would never tell anyone."
"She knows that," Carlisle reassured her.
"The problem is that you two have gone public now," Emmett finally spoke up.
"Emmett," Esme warned.
"No," I spoke, "She deserves to know."
"The whole family will be implicated if this ends badly," Rose finished my statement.
"Badly..."
No one says anything at this word. I know Rose heads go to my vision, the same as my own head.
"Oh. Badly as in I become the meal."
"I wish," I muttered as the rest of the family began to laugh. Well all besides Rose who stormed off as Emmett followed behind her. I would have left alongside her, but I knew Jasper would be returning in the moments following so I stood in my place.
Then Alice walked into the room through the window before running forward to kiss Bella's cheek, "Hello Bella. Oh, you do smell good."
"Alice," Edward said as a warning.
"It's all right, we are going to be great friends."
I almost laughed as Bella extended her hand toward Jasper, "You are Jasper, right?"
"Pleasure to met you." I walked over to Jasper and led him a away from her hand before giving him a small kiss.
"You won't hurt her Jasper," Alice said in her encouragement voice.
"I'm Adeline," I introduced myself from a far, "I feel the same way towards you as Rose does. Welcome to our home." I said all of this with a very fake smile painted on my face.
I felt Jasper laugh next to me, as Edward led Bella out of the room for a tour of our house.

"May we talk now ma'am?" Jasper later asked me later on after Bella had left.
"Of course sir. What do you want to talk about exactly?"
"Let's talk about the fact you're using your shield lately. I can not feel your emotions at all and Edward can not hear your thoughts. What is going on Adeline?" I could hear the concern in his voice.
"I had a vision, I didn't want to share it with Edward yet so I've been shielding," I tried to reveal as little information as I could.
"There's more to that story."
I took a deep breath just for the comfort, "It was about my future."
"Don't you mean 'our future'?"
"No. I mean MY future. With the Volturi."

Hey friends!! Woah look I am actually updating like I said I would, what a concept! Honestly, I have officially found a direction that I want this story to go in so I am truly enjoying writing this story. I hope you guys love cliffhangers ;)
I need y'all's help! I haven't written in SO LONG and in my absence the Wattpad online writing set up changed a bit. Is there still a way to add gifs as the image above each chapter? I loved doing this but can't decide if it is still possible. Please help!
