Being an outcast in my senior year is horrible. I was a goth. No friends but one. My best friend. Danny. He was the only one that understood me, even though he wasn't goth. We hang out a lot on the weekends.
"Hey," Danny said running up to me as I put my books into my locker. "Halo."
My name was Halo. I hate my name so much. "Danny," I said with a smile, "hey!"
"Want to hang out this weekend?"
"Sure! You realize prom is coming up right?"
"Yea," He said, "I'm looking for someone. You?"
"I am also searching. Maybe we should just go together since nobody knows we exsist."
"Sure," he said.
Danny had short black hair. He had light skin, and green eyes. Muscle on his upper body says he works out daily.
"Prom's in a week," he said, "see you there."
I smiled as he ran away.
Danny and I went to prom last year, and we just danced a little and hung out. Prom is fun, but we never really fit in with the others.
After school, I normally go home and lie down after I do homework.
The next day, I walked through the hallways with Danny, with my stuff tightly pressed against my chest.
Some guys came by and walked next to me. Danny walked next to the lockers and I walked closer to the group of guys.
"Look out," they laughed at me. They shoved me as hard as they could against Danny.
He growled like a dog, and he sounded like a dog yelping. He covered his mouth. He helped me up and he got up. He sprinted for the bathroom.
"Danny," I said chasing him.
He didn't stop, but I thought he was growing bigger. Maybe I was wrong, but I could have sworn he was. I kept up a normal day. Danny always growled like a dog since he was little, but I never heard him yelp. He was gone until lunch.
He ran up to me. "Where were you," I snapped.
"Halo," he said, "there is just some things you will never understand."
I looked confused, but Dany put his arm around me and nudged me. He was always very warm. Like he always had a fever, but he never actually showed he did have one.
He always walked me home, but we always passed a dirty old mansion on the end of my street. I saw a limo in it the driveway tonight.
At night, I always saw the attic light off, but candles burning. Black curtains covered the window.
I walked past the mansion, and I thought I'd greet the new home owners. I walked up the driveway, but I heard a voice behind me.
"Halo," Danny said behind me. "I wouldn't."
"Why," I asked.
He didn't know his excuse, so he waited down at the bottom of the driveway.
I knocked on the door, and I already felt someone beind me. I turned around and saw a gothic guy standind behind me.
I was goth myself. I had long black hair, black lipstick, and black clothes. This guy had pure white hair, black lipstick, black clothes with a skull necklace.
I took a deep breath. "Oh my god," I said, "I'm sorry. You scared me. I'm Halo. I live right down the street, and I thought I'd welcome you."
The boy scanned me from head to toe. He was my height and my age, but there was something about him. He smiled at me. "I'm Jax," He said with a slight smile.
I took off my necklace, and I handed it to him. It was a black cross necklace with a silver chain. "Here," I said, "welcome to the neighborhood." I also handed him my number. "If you want to know more about the town, give me a call."
I turned around and started walking away. "Good to meet you," he said.
When I turned around, he was gone.
I looked around, but didn't see him.
Danny looked at me with fear in his eyes. He pulled me back to my house nervously.
"You can't trust him," he said.
"Why," I snapped, "I think you are feeling jealous."
"I'm not jealous," he snapped back. "Just trust me. I know more about fantasy than you think. I got to go."
"Fantasy," I asked, "What are you talking about?"
"I got to go," he said running away.
"Danny," I yelled.
He was gone before I could ask again.
I walked inside, where my dumb little sister ran around. "You love Danny," she teased.
"Keep dreaming," I said.
"Halo," My mother said from the kitchen, "I heard there is a new home owner in the mansion."
"I know," I said, "I stopped by. They have a...dreamy boy there."
My family was nothing like me. I was the only goth here. My little sister thinks I'm a freak.
"Are you going to prom," she asked.
"With Danny," I said.
"You do like him," my mother said with a smile.
"Mom," I said, "I can't date my best friend...besides, that dreamy boy is all for me."
She grinned at me. "You also realize halloween is coming up. Right?"
"Yes," I said, "I am gonna be a girl in a white dress. I'm gonna look like you guys."
She laughed. I went up to my room and started texting Danny.
"Danny," I said, "Fantasy? What are you talking about?"
"I can't tell you," he replied, "let's just forget about it."
"Danny!"
Damn it Danny. Mr. Jealous!
