I was sitting up in my bedroom. It was the night after I greeted Jax to the neighborhood. I got a call from a number I didn't know, but i picked it up, rememering I gave Jax my number.

"Hello," I answered.

"Hi, this is Jax. I'm looking for Halo."

"This is her," I said.

"Hey," Jax said, "I called you to ask you if you wanted to hang out sometime. Maybe sometime tomorrow night?"

"Sounds great," I said, "where do you wanna meet?"

"If this is okay, maybe you can come over to my house. We can sit and watch a movie and get to know each other better."

"That's perfect," I said, "I'll see you tomorrow."

"Sounds great. Bye."

"Bye."

I hung up the phone happily.

My little sister came in and started teasing me again. She may have been 12, but she was sure damn annoying.

"Awe," she said, "did Danny call you for a date? How cute!"

"It wasn't Danny," I said, "I got a date tomorrow night at the mansion."

"With the vampires?"

"Vampires don't exsist you goofball. Get out of here."

She started doing an impression of me. "Ooo I'm Halo, and I am in love with a vampire."

"You got half of that correct. I'm in love, but not with a vampire."

There were a few wolf howls outside. I walked downstairs and sat outside in my driveway. It was pure dark. A bat fluttered above my head. This town was so run down, I wouldn't be surprised if there were vampires living here all their lives.

I heard claws hitting the concrete, and I didn't know what to expect. I couldn't see. I looked around, but then I heard a panting sound. A wet nose rubbed across my cheek. A wolf. Once it stepped closer to the street light in my view, it was a beautiful white wolf with green eyes.

I didn't know what this wolf would do. Attack me. Tear me to shreds. Kill me.

I tried crawling away, but it followed me, then when my back was to the garage door.

The wolf looked at me. I looked away, with all my fear gathered in my stomach. It sat down next to me and it's tail thumped the concrete.

I looked at it confused. "You aren't going to hurt me," I asked it.

It whined slightly, then nudged his nose into my arm.

"Easy," I said softly as I put up my hand.

I put my hand on his ear. I rubbed his ear and grinned as his foot thumped on he concrete.

I started seeing my breath. It was October, so it got really cold at night. I scooted away from the garage door a little bit, and hugged my arms. My knees were pressed against my chest and I started shaking.

The wolf stood up and walked behind me. He lied down right behind me, and he pulled me into his side. I felt the warm skin and fur of the wolf. His head came down in my lap.

I pet the wolf behind his ear and down his neck.

"You remind me of my best friend," I said with a smile, "I have to head inside and get to bed."

I stood up once the wolf let me go. He stood up after me and walked me to my front door. This wolf was huge.  His head reached mine in height.

I grabbed the handle to my door, but the wolf whined and nudged me again.
