POV: Ally
As I sit here in the seat beside Catie as she holds my hand, rubbing circles on my knuckles, I can't help but think why someone would think like that about someone amazing as her. I know she's had a bad past and all but how? Was she really that bad? I don't see how that is even possible. Yeah, I'm pretty sure she was toying with me for a week or so but now I wouldn't change a thing. I just don't see it.
The Bluetooth radio played Sorry Not Sorry by Demi Lovato and somehow Catie new every single word. It literally just came out.
"I'm a Demi fan. I have every single song of hers on my phone. Pick one and I'll know every single word." She said. She must've noticed my facial expression.
"I don't want to change it. I like this song." I replied as I held her hand tighter.
"You okay?" She glanced over at me a few times out of worry.
I simply nodded my head before looking out of my window, leaning my head against it as the rain began to lightly fall.
"No you're not. What's wrong?" She asked me sincerely. Her voice was full of worry as her free hand that was on the steering wheel turned the radio down.
"I just don't know how someone could think of you as a bad person. I just don't see it. You're amazing." My voice was soft and quiet, knowing if I talked to loudly I'd cry again. Damn my disorders.
"I'm not exactly innocent. I've made some really bad choices. Hooking up with her was one of them. Playing people was one of them. I didn't know what love was. When my dad left I wanted everyone else to feel the pain that I did while I used them. It's sickening, and I knew it was when I was doing it, but I didn't care. My home was taken from me. Not my house but my home. A home is where you feel safe and secure. A home is where you're happy, no matter what happened two seconds ago, like as soon as you see it you're happy. That was my dad. He was my home, and he didn't even know it. I was a daddy's girl. Definitely was, but then this really pretty girl showed up in my life one day on a softball field, and it's been years since I've been this happy." She said honestly. My cheeks flushed a bright red due to the last part. They got even brighter when she kissed my hand that she was holding.
"I love you." The three words that mean so much to me when I say it. Every letter has a stronger meaning when she says it to me or I say it to her. It just feels full.
"I love you too." She kissed my hand again before muttering, "more than anything."
I don't know if she meant for me to hear it because it was so quiet. My heart skipped like a kid playing hopscotch for the first time. I don't know what I'd do without her in my life right now. If she never got with me and kept teasing me, I honestly think I'd be broken.
As we pull into the driveway, Mike is standing in the front doorframe with his arms crossed. The porch light is the only light on on the whole property.
"Someone get carried away?" He teased.
"Would you mind your own damn business?" I whined as I ran my hand through my hair, walking to the bed of the truck to get my bat bag.
"I got it." Catie stopped me from grabbing my bag so she could get it.
I nodded my head, not wanting to argue that I can carry things because she just does it anyways.
"So what did you two do? Make out?" Mike snickered to himself.
"Mike," I warned.
"Yeah, for a little." Catie shrugged shamelessly as she waited for me to walk inside first.
"I like her, she has no filter or shame." Mike chuckled at her nonchalant response.
"Mine." I snapped at him as I walked inside.
Catie put our bags in the little lounge room beside the front door before walking up to me and grabbing my hand to walk with me to our bedroom.
"You stink." I teased her as we stepped into our room.
"So do you." She snapped at me.
"Sorry..." I bowed my head down and stepped back a little.
"No, don't. I just snap accidentally sometimes because I did it all the time before. I'm working on it. Please don't let it bother you." She plead to me as she engulfed me in a stinky hug.
"Okay." I mumbled into her shoulder, damn my height.
"Shower?" She raised an eyebrow and smirked at me.
"To make myself not stink. Not to have sex." I said as I walked past her to go get my clothes.
"Okay..." She pouted and walked into the bathroom, her clothes already beside the sink.
"The water is too hot. How many times do I have to tell you this?" I groaned as the boiling water hit my skin.
"Babe, it's not that hot." She chuckled.
"Yes it is, I look like a lobster I'm so red." I winced when it hit my skin again.
"I'll turn it down but I'm gonna freeze."
"Thank you."
"Love birds! Wake up you have a game today!" My mother's words rang through my ears as I shot up from the sudden loud noise of her roaring voice.
"Okay!" I shouted back before I look back at Catie who is looking at me with a smile. "What?" I said with an eyebrow raised.
"My girlfriend is gorgeous." She smiled even more when I blushed.
