POV: Ally

"We've got the referral, and a bed is saved for you the Saturday exam week is over. Maggie and I will take turns taking you to classes and taking you home. You aren't allowed to drive anymore, and you have to eat at least a protein bar before practices or games." Mike showed me the copy of the referral to prove it.

"So what I'm hearing is two weeks from today?" I hung my head low.

"Yes, and thanksgiving is five days from now. I'm going to monitor you and not let you move an inch once you finish eating. There will be no binging or purging. Nada. It's just you, mom, and I this time." Mike gave me a sad smile. Last time we at least had six people. Now we're back to having three.

"Well not unless you come eat with my family." Maggie just waltzed into my house.

"Do you just let yourself in now?" I was slightly amused.

"Mike gave me a key in case of emergencies." Maggie shrugged.

"Your emergency contacts are mom, Maggie, and I for the hospital. I trust her with your life. She's been here for you and still is. If it is okay for you to have room for three more we would love that." Mike turned to Maggie. If she wasn't gay I could see them getting together, but ya know. She's gay.

"We've always got room for more. I come from an Irish family, and my brother's wife is Italian. The more the merrier." She smiled.

"I'll tell my mom. What has you stopping by?"

"Well, I wanted to ask you that and ask Ally if she wanted to come pitch to Haley some so she can practice. She's getting good. I've been working with her."

"You don't have to twist my arm to get me to pitch. It's my favorite thing to do. Of course I'll help." I smiled up at her.

"Well go get ready and you'll eat a protein bar on the way." Maggie waved me off, and I heard muffled voices as I walked up the stairs.

I was quick to get into some joggers and a long sleeve thermal compression shirt and my practice jersey on top. I have issues with loose clothing on my arms when pitching, so I'll have to take my sweatshirt off when it comes time. With me not doing any sliding, I can wear comfy pants. So I wear comfy pants.

"You ready to go?" Maggie gave me a bright smile.

"Yeah, my stuff is in the locker room." I was excited. I haven't left the house in three days because of the accident.

"Alright, lets go. I've got snacks in the car." She lead the way and I gave Mike a quick, appreciative hug and jogged to catch up to her.

"I can't throw knuckleballs and sliders and all of the things you can throw. Let alone pitch at all, so I needed your help."

I nodded and put my seatbelt on. "When are you going to have them invest in indoor batting cages?"

"I've been trying for a year and a half. It gets cold as hell here and we have no indoor practice area. Neither does the baseball team. We agreed to share one if we got one, but if we don't put up big numbers this season our sport won't get as much funding. If we win World Series or at least get far into it we'll get one." She gave a much longer explanation than I expected. I was just bitching.

"Kay," I nodded and took a bit out of the protein bar. It's one of the ones with chocolate in it so it's not as bad.

"There you go. Even if you have to reach that hand up to hold the ball in that's okay. Just don't drop it." Maggie was working with Haley. She just told me to pitch something and yeah. That's what we're doing.
