POV: Ally
I ate the meal and played the game. I was reluctant. I didn't want to. I cried while eating it. Nothing about that was pleasant.
Now I'm here with Maggie's family for thanksgiving where I will be forced to eat more food, in front of people I don't know, and keep it down. With them being a very Irish family, like mine, they will try to feed me till I pop.
"Mom, this is Ally." Maggie introduced me to each family member while Mike did it on his own. He's the more outgoing sibling. My mom was getting along with everyone per usual. I have to be forced to do these things.
"I've heard so much about you! I watched the game you pitched and it was incredible!" Her mom pulled me into a hug and I didn't quite know what to do. I did my best to not awkwardly hug back, but this is people we're talking about. "And you're cute as a button!"
When people call me cute at this point they're coming at me for my height. I've picked up on it by now.
"Mom, easy. She's shy." Maggie pulled me back to her side which I was grateful for.
"Sorry Maggie, she's just a cutie. Don't bother your grandmother. She's finishing up in the kitchen and you know she'll beat you if you even step a toe on that tile." Her mom looked over her shoulder into the kitchen.
"We won't." Maggie gently pulled me away from the situation before dragging me into several more introductions before her brother's kids saw me.
"Ally!" Max and Julia came running over to me.
I went ahead and squatted down, because I know they would knock me onto my ass if I didn't. Not that strong right now. "Hey guys!"
The two nearly tackled me. "I missed you! When dad said that you were coming I got excited!" Julia smiled brightly. Julia and Max were more excited to see me than anyone else here. Not even Maggie was this excited. After this I'm setting standards.
"I missed you guys too! What have you two been up to?" I slowly stood up in case they decided to make another move.
"Softball!" Julia tried to mimic me throwing a pitch and it was all out adorable.
"I've been trying baseball, but I don't know about it yet." Max shrugged. "Sometimes it's fun, but then we lose and it's not fun."
"Do you think I win every game I play?" Please don't know the answer to that. I do win every game.
"Yes, Auntie Maggie says you haven't lost." Julia looked up at me.
Damnit Maggie. "Well, before I didn't. It took a lot of practice to get me where I am."
"Practice?" Max looked up at me.
"Yup, just takes practice." I nodded.
"Dad! Ally said I'll start to win baseball if I practice! We gotta practice when we get home!" Max ran over to his dad.
"Sorry Sam." I gave him an apologetic smile. "Going for the pep talk route."
"It's alright. Every time they see you they want to play softball and baseball constantly." Sam chuckled and picked Max up.
"Food everyone! Pick a seat!" Maggie's grandmother made herself known as she walked in with an apron. "Sam, Maggie, help me get the food on the table."
I waited for the food to get on the table till I sat down next to Maggie. Mike ended up sitting next to Sam, because Julia was quicker to get the seat beside me than he was. My mom sits beside anyone. She doesn't care. She could start a conversation with anyone.
