Ally and I are pretty much inseparable. We both got the call for All Stars on Saturday. So road trip, just me and her in the car, my brother, mom, and her mom are in one car; her brother is going to meet us there. So we just got on the road to Florida from the mountains of North Carolina. Ten hours of driving. Lucky me.
"Scruffy, did you set the GPS?"
"Yeah, we've got ten hours."
"Oh boy," Ally sighed.
I grabbed her hand and brought it to my lips before I put it back down on the console.
"I love it when you do that."
I smiled and she laid her head on my shoulder attempting to fall asleep.
"Severe weather warning, severe rain and lightning. Recommend to drive slow or get off the road." The radio warned and repeated itself two more times before letting the music continue to play.
"And my second biggest fear."
"What riding through a storm or a bad storm in general?"
"Bad storm in general."
"Well, I will drive as safe as possible and if it gets bad I will pull over for a little."
"Thank you, but I'm still scared."
"Well, hold my hand and lay your head on my shoulder. I will never let anything hurt you as long as I'm around. I can promise you that."
She smiled, but every time lightning struck she flinched.
"Just close your eyes." I hummed.
"Can you sing to me?"
"What?"
"My mom and brother always sang to me when I was scared."
"I'm not good but sure, what do you want me to sing."
"Anything," she nervously mumbled. The storm was getting worse by the minute.
I started to softly sing a few songs and by the end of the third song she was out like a light.

"Ally we're here." I tried to wake her up. We stopped three times, but she went back to sleep as soon as we got back into the car.
She groaned in response.
"Come on Ally." I chuckled a little.
"Nuh uh," she mumbled before turning away from me.
"Ally," I warned.
"No"
I walked to her door and opened it.
"Last chance." I sighed, knowing that she wasn't going to budge.
"Noooooo,"
I picked her up and she instantly buried her head in my chest in response to my actions.
I walked her to our room and laid her in the bed before pulling the blanket over her, right up to her shoulder.
"Stay with me." She begged.
"I will come back once I get our stuff."
"Noooooo," Ally whined.
"Ally, I have to do it before the others get here."
"But Scruffy..."
"No buts, I will be back in five minutes tops."
After I brought our things in, I jumped in bed.
