Anxiety raked through his body. It made his heart pound so loud it drove out all other sounds, and made his breathing slow yet fast, uneven and ragged. His mind was taken over by what-ifs. He knew their secrets would be uncovered, whether that be now or later. It was just that the later had suddenly gotten too close.
When they had walked back to their dorm, after having been driven apart in the crowd, they didn't exchange any words. Hoseok could still see the warning look on his friend's face when he closed his eyes. Without any sounds exchanged he could feel the danger that laid behind his façade. He realised that if he'd say anything, spread any rumours, there would be consequences. Hoseok knew fully well what his boyfriend was capable of. Enough so, that only his look sent shivers of fear down his spine.
While they waited for a teacher to get them Yoongi had hidden the book. He had put a spell over it, hiding its true nature. The cold and dark weight that had laid across the room as soon as that drawer was opened was now covered up. Almost as if a veil was put over it, but the darkness was never undone. Still it was enough to fool everybody. If Hoseok hadn't known the true contents of the book he'd have never guessed the damage those pages could do. In other words, it was completely up to him whether Yoongi could continue his bad intentions or would be stopped now. He was the only piece of evidence left.
Hoseok was scared to talk, he was too scared to even think. Yoongi could enter his thoughts at any moment, without him knowing as well. Speaking his mind and protecting his friend from himself could mean the end for him. Hoseok was yet to discover the true extent of Yoongi's powers but he knew the didn't end at just hurting him. Last time he was kind enough to let him live, this time however he wasn't so sure that'd be the outcome.
Still it was now or never, he had to decide. Because the person sitting opposite of him wasn't a mere teacher, it was the principal. She looked at him with a determined look, almost as if she saw straight through him. It made him all the more scared. Without doing anything he knew he was doing wrong.
"You're probably wondering why I am questioning you and not just any other teacher?" Jisoo asked. Her voice had a fake sweetness to it. Hoseok knew that the kind façade was only to put him at ease. She was determined and strong, using her charm to strengthen them.
"You interest me, Hoseok." She said, leaning her fair face on the palm of her hand. "you came here as someone who knew nothing of sorcery, someone who was so bad at controlling it that he got visions even. Yet now you are one of the best students in the school. It's admirable to say the least." The interesting tone in her words was close to sarcasm, yet much more deadly.
Hoseok carefully looked up from his hands. "Are you accusing me of using dark magic?" He asked almost shocked. Of all possible outcomes he hadn't thought of this. Jisoo just shrugged.
"It's fully well possible, isn't it? Your unbelievable progress is definitely noticeable. Also the sudden increase in use of dark magic after the war started. We noticed that you lost the last of your family that day, so it gives you the motive. If anything the books you've been reading in the library lately are the last piece of evidence we needed." She explained.
Hoseok sighed leaning his head on top of his hand in despair. He had been doing research about dark magic so he could estimate the damage Yoongi could do. Whenever someone would ask him he'd say it was for school, but of course now they'd notice.
"I swear, it's not me." He pleaded desperately.
"Then who is it, Hoseok?" Jisoo asked leaning back. She looked down at him with an almost threatening look. "I don't believe you are guilty, but we have enough evidence to make you into the culprit, whether that is the truth or not. We can't start this investigation and not have anyone to blame in the end. I know that you know who is really using dark magic in this school. If you don't tell us the truth you'll be considered just as guilty, and we'll make sure that you are." She added her voice getting louder and more threatening as her tangent went on.
Hoseok's hands were shaking. There was no way out this time. Either he'd say Yoongi was the sorcerer and get him in trouble. He'd lose a friend, a lover, the one person he still had with him after the war started. Still if he wouldn't he'd be punished instead. Yoongi would be able to continue with his dark magic as if nothing had happened, with all consequences of that. The only thing he had to decide now was who got hurt.
"Who is it, Hoseok?" Jisoo asked, a bit softer toned. Hoseok breathed in. He had to speak now.
"Don't." Yoongi's voice was loud and clear in his head. It shoved his words back through his throat. Any thoughts and answers he had were driven out of his head. He didn't know what to do. All he knew was that he couldn't let Yoongi get dragged out of the Academy for this. He'd rather get hurt instead that let him get hurt. The desperate tone in his friend's voice made that clear for him. Even though he was intruding in his mind, corrupting his decisions, he couldn't let go of him that easily, not after everything that had happened.
With a deep breath Hoseok spoke. "I don't know what you're talking about." He said loud a clear. Jisoo let out a sigh.
"I hope you understand that what will happen will be of your own doing, not ours." She said with a slow voice. Her tone was filled with pity and frustration. Hoseok ignored it all and just stared back at her with a blank expression and body language.
"Take him back to his room." Jisoo ordered the teacher that stood in the corner. The man nodded walking towards the sorcerer. He had already stood up. Just before they exited the room Jisoo spoke again.
"This is not over, Hoseok." She said. The young male just ignored her again, letting the teacher guide him back to his dorm. There was someone he needed to talk to.
I haven't written anything for almost three weeks now and it's slowly driving me insane so I literally wrote this in one hour. It's currently 00:19 and we have guests tomorrow but I just need to get everything out of my system so I'll probably write until I fall asleep.
