"What do you think you're doing?" Yoongi asked in a low and dark voice. It was enough to make Hoseok speechless, he just gaped at him. "where in your head did you think it was a good idea to touch it, you bloody idiot."
To his surprise Yoongi picked up the book with ease, throwing it on the side. He sat down next to Hoseok and took his burnt hand in his. Only a second later the younger could feel a comforting cold run over his skin. He could feel his cells healing and the blisters disappearing. He let out a sigh. When the spell was finished Yoongi kept his hand on the younger's, rubbing comforting patterns on his knuckles.
"I had no choice, you were hurting yourself." Hoseok said hardly louder than a whisper.
"You mean this?" Yoongi asked, letting go of his hand to pull up his sleeve. The scars on his shoulder became visible. The younger nodded, carefully reaching out and running his fingers over them.
He focused on them, letting his energy run through Yoongi's shoulder. He could access everything, except for the scars. It was almost as if there was a lock placed over them. They were very much permanent.
"You can't heal them." Yoongi said. "dark magic likes to leave marks. This was an offering I made, I can't take it back."
Hoseok looked at him with a raised eyebrow. "An offering?" He repeated. Yoongi nodded.
"I wanted to see in the future, to get an idea of what was going to happen when I went to see my father." He explained. "the spell required blood, taken from three separate wounds to be exact. It worked but it did leave scars."
"Is that why you suddenly changed the date we were going to visit your father?" Hoseok asked carefully. He knew his father was a touchy subject for Yoongi. The elder just nodded.
"I didn't see us visiting my father, instead I saw him dying and a date. I knew if I wanted to meet him again I needed to hurry, so I did." Yoongi explained with a sad expression.
Hoseok nodded with a sympathetic expression. It explained why Yoongi acted so weird after his father's passing, why he didn't cry. He had already seen it coming. Still Hoseok could only image how it was to see his own father die. And to then still make the decision to meet him again, even after everything they had been through. It must've been horrible.
"I'm sorry." Hoseok said intertwining their fingers again.
"Don't be. Dark magic allowed me a chance to talk to my father again before it was too late." Yoongi said. Hoseok looked back up raising an eyebrow.
"Do you actually think dark magic is a good thing? It is hurting you in ways you haven't even noticed." He said raising his voice just slightly.
"Oh, I have noticed." Yoongi said mimicking his tone. "I have noticed how it allows me to go outside the dorm without feeling like my head's exploding. I have noticed how it allowed me to see my father again. And it allows me to do so much more, Hoseok."
"It's dangerous." Hoseok retaliated.
"It's not." Yoongi said just as quick. "I can control it. There are few people who are strong enough to but I can use any spell in this book without problem. Trust me."
Hoseok let out a sigh at Yoongi's begging face. For some reason it sounded trustworthy even though he knew it was wrong. He couldn't ignore his gut feeling. The feeling dark magic gave him was enough for him to hold a prejudice against it.
"You don't have to agree with it, just don't tell anyone. Because, you know, even though it isn't dangerous it can still get me in a lot of trouble. So I suggest this stays between us." Yoongi said. His gaze dropped again.
Hoseok thought for a second before nodding. Even though he didn't agree with Yoongi doing dark magic he could still talk him out of it rather than get him into trouble. If anyone found out he would be sent away from the Academy, the country would lose one of the biggest sorcerers of all time. Hoseok couldn't let that happen.
Yoongi looked at him with a blank face, there were definitely emotions behind the wall he put up but they were too far away for the younger to read. Hoseok just sighed. He pushed himself off the bed and walked towards the door, he desperately needed some fresh air. Before he could reach it however, the door slammed shut.
"I don't think you quite understand me here, Hoseok." Yoongi said standing up and walking closer. "even though I have medication I can still use my gifts."
Hoseok gulped, subconsciously taking a step back. He feared the dark look in Yoongi's eyes. "I promise I won't tell anyone." He said.
"That's not what your thoughts are saying." Yoongi said. He chuckled humourlessly.
Hoseok hadn't even felt the elder sneak into his thoughts. Only when he focused could he feel Yoongi moving around. He had grown stronger. The dark magic was doing weird things to him, and Hoseok didn't like any of it. He tried his best to clear out any thoughts that could work against him but found himself unable to do so. It was as if Yoongi was preventing him from thinking. He was controlling his mind more than he could.
"I always admired something about you, Hoseok. Your willpower is very strong. You never give up, you never slow down, you never submit if you don't think it's the right thing to do." Yoongi said with a smirk. He took a few steps forward, backing Hoseok up against the wall. "well, not this time, Hoseok. But that's alright, maybe you just need a little bit of motivation."
He reached forward and put one hand on Hoseok's mouth, the other on his chest. Tears appeared in Hoseok's eyes as pain racked through him. It felt like he was on fire, burning every last bit of his soul out of him. Electric shocks shot from his brain to his fingertips, leaving him aching. It was unlike any pain he had ever felt before, worse than the book and way worse than the fire.
He wanted to scream but the empty air only echoed back, a silencer spell, of course. He couldn't call out for help, or call out in pain, but that didn't stop him from doing so. He could feel his throat become rough. His voice was coming out in mere whimpers now.
Hoseok's body grew weaker as the seconds ticked away. He couldn't move nor fight back. His limbs were shaking furiously and his muscles were clenched in pain. The pain was too much to take, he could feel himself getting close to blacking out. He tried desperately to hold on, until at one point he couldn't take any more of it, he fell down.
The sorcerer caught himself on his hands and knees. Yoongi's hands left him, stopping the spell. The pain however didn't stop. Hoseok could still feel his body aching. He was shaking and whimpering, tears were streaming down his face, dropping onto the floor. For a second he just layed there. He didn't dare to look up at the monster who did this to him. He only breathed roughly and cried anything but silently.
Yoongi kneeled down next to him. Hoseok still didn't look up, this made Yoongi only angrier. He cupped his friend's face just a bit too harsh forcing him to look up. Tears rolled onto his hand but he didn't care. They were just liquid to him even though he knew the emotions behind them. Emotions didn't reach him now.
"Don't underestimate me, Jung Hoseok." Yoongi said in a low voice. "If you decide to tell anyone you won't get so lucky. Have I made myself clear?"
Hoseok nodded without second thought, his throat aching too much to speak. Another tear rolled down his cheek, Yoongi didn't seem bothered by it at all.
"Good." The elder said. And in that moment Hoseok swore he saw his eyes turn a shade darker.
Don't kill me please. Honestly worse is coming though.
