{AN: When I read Divergent I pictured Uriah being really tall and skinny with black hair and blue eyes and not how I guess he really looks, so sorry if it throws you off, but Hector does not look like Uriah from the movies}

"What?!" I laugh, "No way. Hector is like my best friend. We are just friends," I lie. Thank god Jacob isn't here, or he'd be able to tell in lying. I like Hector, but I know he only thinks of me as a friend. I wish we were more.
"Yeah. We are just friends . She's like my annoying little sister," Hector laughs. I laugh along, but inside, my heart shatters.
Brian taps on the window to the front of the pickup, where Lani and Jacob sit. "How much longer until we are there?" he asks.
Jacob repeats the question to Lani. Lani says something then Jacob says, "About fifteen minutes."
I stand up in the back of the truck and look in the front. We are out of the city and Lani slams on the breaks causing me to fall. I expect to hit the metal bottom of the pickup, but I don't. I open my eyes, that I hadn't realized I closed, and see Hector holding me in his arms.
"Are you okay?" he asks, looking nervous.
"Yeah. Thanks," I say and stand back up.
"You are seriously trying that again, after you could've died?" Brian asks.
"I am dauntless. Aren't I?" I say.
Brian mutters something under his breath, but I can't hear him. All I hear is the soundo of the engine turning. I gasp as I see the massive world out of city. I never realized how big the fence was. There is so much land inside the fence, but so much more outside of it. What's beyond it?
"What's out there?" I ask as I sit back down.
"Monsters," Hector laughs.
"Amity farms." Jenna says.
"No I mean past the farms," I say.
"Places that never recovered from the war." Brian says.
{Divergent quote;)}
I stare off into the distance past the fence. There has to be other people out there. The whole world can't be just an empty void. There has to be mountains and oceans. We don't have any of that here in the city. There was once a lake, but it dried up a long time ago, it's now a marsh. We can't be the only people in the world. There has to be some life out there.
"Woah," someone says, but I can't tell who.
I look out and see thousands of green plants growing everywhere. We pass a dome shaped building that has a tree on it, the amity symbol. There are a lot of windows and solar panels on the building. People are waking around inside, wearing yellows and reds. The building, which I'm guessing is the amity headquarters, is in the middle of an apple orchard. Hundreds of trees with red dots on them surround the building. People, with huge smiles on their faces, harvest the ripe fruit. We turn into the orchard and drive around a bumpy dirt road.
We brush past a tree and I pull a bright red apple off it. The branch swings back and hits Hector in the head.
"Ow!" he yelps, but there is a smile on his face, "You did that on purpose."
"What?" I laugh at him, "I did no such thing."
"Did to."
"Did not."
"Did to."
"Did not."
"Would you two five year olds stop?" Brian says, his erudite showing.
I stand up, expecting Hector to do the same but he remains seated.
"C'mon! Stand up Hec!" I yell. Hector doesn't stand up but to my surprise, Jenna does.
I smile at her and look back at Hector. "You are such a pansycake! A stiff has more guts than you!" Jenna and Brian laugh with my and Hector stands up. He runs at me and picks me up and drops me off the truck.
I'm still holding his arms, but my feet are running on the ground. "Help me up, Hec!" I yell, but he doesn't.
"I'm too much of a pansycake to help you," He smirks and my insides melt as I see that smile. I look at him "Oops!" he says as he lets go of my arms.
I fall to the ground and slowly get up. I wipe the dirt off my black clothes, and I run after the truck. The amity people stare at me, they've probably never seen a dauntless girl running after an amity truck. I mean none of them have ever seen a dauntless in the amity fields.
I keep running and grab onto the back of the pickup. I run and push myself up and hop into the back.
Hector is looking at me. He takes a big bite of the apple, my apple, causing my insides to melt again.
I grab the apple and look at him, "You apple stealing pansycake!" I take a big bite of my apple and sit next to him.
I stare at him. His perfect skin is a perfect tan color, and his dark hair flops perfectly on his head. And his bright blue eyes are the color of the sky right before the sun sets, a perfect royal blue. His lips. They look so soft. I want to turn his head and connect our lips, feeling the softness of his lips on my own. I look at him and his stunning features.
I am awoken from my day dream from the shout from the giggly Lani.
"We are here!" she yells.
I look at the house and laugh. The perfect amity house I pictured in my head is right in front of me. A small two story looking hut with a brown patched roof. It looks like the house of the seven dwarves, but bigger. The windows have no glass in them and the door is wide open. Lani pulls into the driveway and opens the car door. Jacob gets out and stands with her. Hector and I hop out, followed by Brian jumping and falling on his butt. I stifle a laugh. I look at Hector, who is helping Jenna out of the pickup, and walk inside.

Five hours later

Amity wasn't as bad as I expected it. The food wasn't half bad. I hated picking the food, but it tasted okay, but not as good as my Mom's spaghetti and meatballs.
I fell asleep on Hector's shoulder during the car ride home because it was almost 11 when we got back to the city. I wake up as we go over a bump and enter the city. I sigh. I liked being out of the city for a while. I felt almost free.
I look around and see the only other person awake is Brian. Jenna is curled up in a ball and Hector has his head on mine. I slowly move away from Hector and set his head on my lap.
"Just friends?" Brian asks, in an annoying tone.
"Yes," I lie, "Just friends."
He raises his eyebrows at me and I laugh. He stares at me, as if he could see straight through me.
"I don't think so," he says.
"Well, you think wrong," I say.
He raises his eyebrows again. "Me. Erudite. Thinking wrong?"
"Fine," I sigh, mainly because I don't feel like having an argument.
"Fine you like him? Or fine I'm right?" he asks.
I look at him, then at Hector, "Both."
