I press my lips to Al's, and it has felt like an eternity since I last saw her. I can tell she wasn't expecting me, but she soon kisses me back.

She pulls away, and I look into her big, deep, blue glossy eyes that are filled with tears, and I pull her into a tight embrace.

"I love you Hector." She says, and I can tell she is crying.

"I love you too, Al." I say, and then someone runs into my shoulder, and I realize that Al and I are standing on the middle of the stairway. She realizes that too, and she grabs my hand and we run down the stairs.

We are some of the last people in the basement, and I see huddles of blue, black, and gray sitting on the ground. The Amity people are probably in the shelter by their compound, and I have no idea where the candor are, but even though I've never liked candor, I hope that they are okay.

Al rushes over to few people in black. Most of the dauntless are still at the compound, saying it's underground. Jo, Maci, Jenna, Brian, and a few others who I don't know are sitting there. They are all covering their heads with their hands, and I sit down next to Al. I wrap one arm around her and cover my head with the other.

Then, there is a huge crash, and I think the glass above us just shattered. Then, there are footsteps storming down the stairs. I look up, and so do some abnegation and erudite people.

There are twenty people, all dressed in black, and carrying big guns. I realize that Ethan is standing in front of all the people. Then, they come closer to us, and I duck my head back down. I cover Al's blonde head the best I can, and but I think that I didn't so a good enough job. One of the men pulls me up and I hear Al gasp. She looks up, and I see the puzzled look on her face.

I throw a punch at the guard who pulled me up, and absolute chaos breaks loose. Al turns and punches the woman behind me. I hear gasps from the erudite and abnegation. Jo is going all out on a guy, and Maci and Jenna are teaming up on a big guy. Brian is just standing there, and for once, he doesn't know what to do.

Then, the floor shakes, and I fall to my knees, but the guy who I punched doesn't, he towers over me. He points his gun right at me, his finger on the trigger, but then, suddenly, he falls to his knees.

I look at where he just stood, and Brian is there. I raise an eyebrow at him and glance at the unconscious man now on the ground. "There is a pressure point on the back of the shoulder, and when you press it the person falls un-" Brian says, but I interrupt him.

"Thanks man, but honestly I don't care." I say, and I reach a hand up for him to help me up. He helps me up, and I see someone coming behind Brian with a gun. "Duck!" I yell, and Brian drops. I swing at the man, and he drops to the ground, his gun falling from his grasp. Brian quickly grabs it, and tries to figure out how to hold it, but I just take it and shake my head at him.

I pull the trigger, and it hits a dauntless man in the ankle. At the sound of a gunshot, most of the people drop and cover their heads with their hand. I quickly place the gun in my waist band, and I grab Al's hand, and we rush up the stairs.

"We can't go up there!" Brian yells. "The tornado is still out there!" More glass is shattering above us, but I continue towards the noise.

"Would you rather get shot to death?" I yell back at him, and he falls silent.

I feel Al's grip on my hand tighten as we run up the stairs. I glance down at her, and she has a nervous look on her face. Al never liked storms, even as a child.

"AL!?" I scream. Where the hell is she?

There is a huge clap of thunder, and a flash of lighting from the skylights. I hear a little gasp from the corner, and I see Al hiding under a water fountain. The fountain blocks some of the blue light from reaching her, but it illuminates her face in a eerily way.

"Hey, Al, it's okay," I say, and I kneel right in front of her.

Her big, deep blue eyes are filled with tears, and she is slightly shaking. Then there is another clap of thunder, and all the lights in the compound go out. She lets out a sob that breaks my heart. Tears are spilling down her face, and I reach out and grab her hand. I pull her up, and when right when I get her to stand up, there is another huge clap of thunder and she quickly goes back to her hiding spot.

I sit down next to her under the water fountain, and I wrap my arm around her. She cries into my shoulder, and I rub soothing circles into her back.

"Al, it's okay," I say, "It's just a storm, it can't hurt you, it won't hurt you."

I wish that what I said was true, that I could keep that promise and protect her from the thrashing winds, but out there is the safest place for her right now, or at least I hope it is.
