"Al's "body" didn't have her tattoo," Jo says, and she puts air quotes around body.

I look at her, and try to think, did I see the tattoo on Al's back? I remember she was wearing a blank tank top, like she usually does, and you can usually see the top of the dauntless symbol. Then, I remember when they pulled out 'Al', she was on her front, and Ethan quickly turned her over, but I didn't see the tattoo.

"You're right," I say, and then I look over the raging waters. Relief floods over me, and now I know how much pain Al must have gone through when Kevin pushed me into the chasm. She must've gone through hell, and now I'm going through it too, but I know things will be better because Al isn't really dead, or at least I hope.

"Well, if she's not dead, where is she?" Jo asks, but I don't look away from the roaring water in the chasm.

I keep my eyes locked on the water and say, "Where she always goes when she needs time to think," Jo looks at me with an eyebrow raised, and I answer her unasked question, "The train."

Jo immediately stands, and runs away. I sigh, stand up, and rush after her. "Where are you going?"

"Where else? The train." Jo says, and she runs out of the compound. Once again, I rush after her, and we run down towards the train station. We climb up there, and then Jo stands there, the same way Al would, except her dark hair replaces Al's blonde, and Jo is a foot taller than Al, so her height blocks what I would usually see with Al standing there.

The roar of the train snaps me out of my thoughts, and I remember how Al said that that sound, the roar of the train, is one of her favorite things.

Jo and I gracefully jump onto the train, we get into the first car, and automatically, I sit on the edge, like I always would do with Al. God, everything comes back to her, and I just can't get her out of my head. Jo sits down next to me, and she leans her head on my shoulder, like Al used to.

"I miss her so much." Jo and I say at the same time, and we both laugh a little. We sit in silence for a while, but it's not an awkward silence, it's a peaceful silence, her head on my shoulder, and both of our eyes watching the destroyed, yet beautiful city around us.

I see the Ferris wheel in the distance, and smile at a memory.

.

"Al, please we are up high enough," I complain, but she keeps climbing higher.

"Don't be such a pansycake, Hec," Al laughs at me, and she just keeps climbing higher.

I smiled, she is so headstrong, and stubborn. God I love her. No I don't. We are only 14, I don't even know what love is. But I just know when we get older, I definitaly will.

"Alllll.....," I complain again, but this time she doesn't even acknowlege what I said. She just keeps climbing higher and higher. "God Al, are you even human?"

She laughs and climbs higher. I follow her up, and she is standing on the little platform, looking over the city. "It's so beautiful, even though it's destroyed, it's amazing." I look at her, and her long blonde hair is blowing back in the wind, making her look beautiful, just like the destroyed city.

.

Then we get closer to the erudite compound and I look down at the passing buildings. I look at the people waking in there blue outfits, but then I see someone in all black, actually two someones in all black and one in blue. They seem like their waiting for the train. They stand there, and one of the people in all black, who is realize is a girl, looks up at Jo and me. Her mouth drops open, and so does mine. "Al?"

I hear a gasp from Jo, and she stands up, like she is about to jump, but I stand up and stop her by wrapping my arms around her. "Jo, it's too late." I say, and she falls to her knees. I look out the open side of the train, and if Jo were to jump, she would have smacked into the pavement, "It's too late."

- Al -

.

.

"Hector," I whisper as he and Jo sped past on the speeding train.

I feel Jenna tense next to me, and I feel a tear run down my face, and then, out of nowhere, I start running after the train, but I feel Jenna grab my arm, "It's too late Al," She says, she's right, the train is long gone, and I would get caught trying to catch the train. "It's too late."

.

.

The sound of pouring rain is comforting to me, like the noise of the train and the water of the chasm. Jenna, Brian, and I are sitting under a bridge that the train goes over. Jenna is asleep, and Brian is sitting by the fire I made, trying to warm his hands.

"I don't think I ever said thanks to you, Bri, for saving me," I say, and he looks up at me.

"Al, you don't have to-" He says, but I interrupt him.

"Don't even say that, who knows what would've hapened to me and Jenna if you hadn't saved us." I say, and he looks into the fire, his eyes darting back and forth, studying the flames, probably remembering something he studied back when he was still in erudite.

"I'm sorry about Hector and your friend, Jessie," Brian says.

I laugh, our teacher when we were like eleven called Jo Jessie all the time. "Jo," I correct him.

"Yeah, Jo, I'm sorry you had to see them, It must've been hard for you." He says.

"Yeah, it was hard," I say, not focusing on what Brian was saying, but focusing on the hurt I saw in Hector's bright blue eyes when he looked at me.
