"Over here!" I yell and wave my arms frantically so Jughead sees me. He smiles and walks towards where I stand on the abandoned road.
"What a creepy place to choose for a meet up. I love it," he says and smiles at me.
"I need to tell you something," I begin and he walks closer till our shoulders are touching. "My parents, a couple months back, decided that Riverdale isn't safe anymore. Not since..." he nods his head, a concerned look spreading over his face. "Jughead, my parents are moving us to Delaware".
"What happened to Riverdale being the 'town of pep'," he mutters with a grim chuckle. "I can't believe I'm going to be losing my best friend".
"Jug, we can still face time-"
"Don't you see, Y/N? It's never going to be the same. I won't be able to tap on your window late at night so that we can sneak out to Pop's. I'll never be able to shield you from scary movies or the occasional douche bag that hits on you. Y/N, I'll never be able to show you I love you more than a friend". The air around us stills and we spontaneously find interest in our feet.
"I love you too, Jughead".
"When are you going?" he asks, turning to look at my face.
"Tomorrow".
"What?! Y/N, why didn't you tell me sooner?" he yells, making his voice crack in the process.
"I couldn't okay? I barely had the will to tell you tonight. I can't imagine a life without you, Jughead. I don't want to!" I feel defeated and frustrated with the world. I just found out the boy I've had a crush on since we first met feels the same way and now I'm on my way out.
"Hey, don't cry," he tells me, pulling me into his warm embrace, "Don't think of this as goodbye".
"But it is goodb-," I reply before he shushes me, not wanting to hear the word leave my lips. Jughead leans in closer till our noses are touching.
"I'll see you later," he whispers, making us both smile sadly.
And then he walked away, leaving me on the abandoned road. I will never forget you Jughead Jones.
