Hee-young's POV

In a flash, the month passed and the new year came. It was a rather lonely new year. My parents did come home to spend it with me but it was a new year with the feeling of loss. I lost 2 people close to my heart.

After my parents' stay during the new years which lasted a week, they were convinced I was back to normal. They then took off for their business in another country that was due to open soon. It would probably be about a year more or less before their next visit.

I was not very used to being alone in the house. I would usually have halmeoni who shared her stories with me or simply make me feel that I was not alone with just her presence. Now that she was gone and unable to advise me, I felt exposed in the big world. Just me.

Nonetheless, I had to smile and move on with life. Being stuck in the past reaped no benefits.

Then on a fine Sunday, Sun-hee sent a message to the group chat that the stylists shared.

Sun-hee: Pledis is looking for stylists for the new girl group, Pristin. Any takers?

Me: 🙋 ME

I was questioned by my decision but I was sure of this. If given the opportunity to be as furthest away from The8 was given, I would take it. Instead of giving my real reason, I made up my own reasonable reason which eventually got them to consider letting me move to another group.

So without notice, I was moved to a new group. I had my first meeting and briefing about the group that was to debut in March. I also met new people who were both new to the company and had been in the company for some time. We had a few meetings with the members of Pristin themselves to discuss the theme of their debut and the idea they were going for. They were all nice and polite people. Their leader was admirable and helped to facilitate the discussions smoothly. The vigorous progress of coming up with each member's style and sourcing for places that we could get their stage outfits done took place the next 2 months.

This was new to me as I had been styling males instead of females this whole time. This gave me an opportunity to extend my skills. I did tell myself before that I wanted to make an advancement in life. This was a chance. I learnt from the other stylists and read up on fashion trends.

Soon enough, the day of their debut arrived. They would have their live debut on Mnet. Since it was in the evening, we were to leave for the intended location by 6.30pm. Nonetheless, the staff had to do preparation and after meeting up at lunch, we headed to the company building to pack and go over the events this week. I managed to acquaint myself with the other stylists and forced myself to appear confident and more open than I actually was. It was like opening a new book. They did not worry too much for me with the impression I could care for myself well.

A few hours later, we were loading costumes and makeup kits in a van. As we were loading the last few items, the members of Pristin emerged from the building. They stood in a line and greeted us. They stood in a line and greeted us. Just then, the members of Seventeen came out too. They came out to wish them good luck.

I quickly dodged behind a van when I saw them.

"Hee-young? Are you shy towards male idols?" one of the stylists asked me.

I nodded.

"Kinda?" I said in a questionable tone.

She pulled me out from behind the van and I could now clearly be seen by the members.

"Hee-young?" Jun's voice clearly called out.

"Oh... They know you... Cool!" she said before leaving me as Jun headed my way.
