Manila, Philippines, 2.38pm
"They must feel really disappointed and upset right now..." I pondered as I organised the costumes for the fanmeet.
The stylists who were also arranging the costumes nodded. Then Ji-hae shot her head up.
"Hee-young must feel really disappointed the8 couldn't come..." she teased.
I shot her a glare while the rest teased me even more. I probably looked like a tomato now. I covered my cheeks with my hands. Although the teases were harmless, they kept drawing the picture of the two China members moping around helpless in the dorm; each tease drawing a vivid picture that could turn into a stop motion film. I placed the costumes down and joked about needing some fresh air before leaving for a brief moment.
My heart started to sink. I remembered Minghao texting me late into the night of the amount of hard work he put into every training and how he really wanted to perform and meet his international fans. If possible, he would go to every country and meet every fan. Nonetheless, I consoled and comforted him despite the tears that flowed down my cheeks.
"Don't worry," I texted him.
"Your members will work hard for you. Perhaps it will work out if you go to Manila again," I texted.
Deep inside, I knew. Although there may be a next time, every single time counted. The fear of losing fans or disappointing fans at the least definitely lingered in his heart. He would probably push himself more so as to not disappoint fans in other fanmeets too. I took out my phone and stared at it. Should I call him despite the extra charges? As much as I wanted to contact him now, he and Jun counted on everyone here to make the fanmeet a success in their absence.
I gripped my phone and shoved it back in my pocket before returning back into the room. I had duties to carry out. I should be doing my best even in his absence. I went back to where the costumes were. Upon my arrival, the stylists who teased me earlier stood in a line in front of me.
"We're sorry if we hurt your feelings," they apologised in unison.
I giggled. I forgave them and they came up to me and gave me a hug.
"Ok ok, let's get back to work," I told them.
With that, we shuffled off to our respective stations. While I was gone, little was done with the costumes as they were worried about me. We picked up the pace from where we left off but still making sure no mistakes were made.
Since there was a 2-day fanmeet here, I had to do the same thing the next day too except the work was more cut out for us as we already prepared on the first day.
On the first night, we stayed back to do up preparations for the next day so we made it to the hotel just in time for dinner. Right after dinner, I rushed to my hotel room and showered in a flash.
"I'm just going to go get some fresh air to calm my nerves from today and for tomorrow," I lied as I left the room.
My roommates barely had time to reply. I went to the pool at the rooftop where there was wi-fi. I sat down cross-legged on a deck chair.
I messaged Minghao, greeting him in Chinese. It was one of the only phrases I could type in Chinese characters. He replied quickly, greeting me back in Korean.
Minghao: How was today?
Me: I managed to pull through. The fanmeet went by smoothly thankfully.
Minghao: That's good to hear. Did u miss me?
Me: ...
Minghao: ...?
