I sat in silence, distracting myself with my phone before he finally called me about half an hour later. I answered it without hesitation.
"Yes, Hee-young? Did you call for me? Why are you up at this time?" his gentle voice accompanied by heavy breathing from practice was heard on the other side of the call.
"Is this a bad time to talk? I need to ask you something. I got a nightmare and I need to ask something," I asked.
He hummed for me to go ahead.
I went on and told him about my nightmare. I told him about my thoughts too.
"So what do we do at this point? Is there a way out of this? I don't want any more lives lost or ruined," I asked at the end.
He was silent. It took him a while before he said his first words on the matter.
"Same with me too. I guess we forgot about it, huh? Is it ok if I ask the members what to do? We've always been helping each other out. I may need to tell them about your grandmother so they get where you are coming from," he mentioned.
"Sure. I guess. If you trust them then I trust them too," I complied.
We came to an agreement on our course of action. When options seem narrowed down, get a different viewpoint to open up some more.
He ended the call to return to practice and I went back to sleep a little calmer.
A few days later, I bumped into him at the company building and we stopped to talk. He told me about the team's suggestions and what they thought. They were shocked by what we had been through and even more by how we hid all that.
"That's a pretty good idea. I don't know if we have ever thought of that but then... Would it work? The cliché idea, I mean. Would they accept us if we reasoned with them? I'm kind of afraid..." I mentioned.
He gave me a comforting hug.
"Ya... It'll be ok as long as we got each other, friends to back us up and a good plan. We just need to believe. This time, I won't give up on us. I'm more aware and I understand more now so I know what I'm doing. I love you and nothing can ever change that," he said to me softly, voice smooth as silk and words sweet as honey.
He held my shoulders and plated a kiss on my forehead. We took a short moment as we locked eyes and smiled. It was an unspoken promise that we made in that silence. We trusted each other.

He bent down and grazed the stone of my grandmother's grave. What he told her was only known by him and my grandmother only. He felt partially responsible for her passing. I stood a few feet away to let him have his moment with her. He had not visited her grave as we had broken up around that time. Now that we were back together, he came to visit her grave to say what he could not say and ask for forgiveness for what he had done.
He stood up and wiped his tears before turning to me. His eyes were red but he forced a smile.
I gave him a hug and rubbed his back. He needed some comfort.
"I'm sure she forgives you. She's a nice and kind-hearted person.
"I'm really sorry Hee-young. I left you like that in such a crucial time," he cried, wrapping his arms around me.
"Yah... I forgave you, didn't I? We have each other now. That's all that matters. We'll live for my grandmother. She probably wants us to live life to the fullest and not harp on her death," I comforted him.
His head that perched on my shoulder nodded. We stayed that way, hugging each other for a while until the grief was washed away. It was a depressing yet comforting silence. After a while, he spoke up. He could never forgive himself. He had hurt me. He could not forget that.
