DEREK POV

Katherine was sleeping on my shoulder when I heard a voice in the back that caught my attention.

"I am looking for the location of Alyce Perez." I immediately recalled on who this voice belonged to. My blood boiled with disgust,

Cody.

I stood up abruptly, my fist clinched at both of my sides. "What in God's name are you doing here? Do you have a a death wish? You didn't get the message the first time when I knocked your teeth in? Do you want me to press charges-" An arm pushed me back off of Cody.

"Woah, take it easy Tyler. He isn't worth it." Chris spoke out, that was exactly what Alyce said before she went out.. It seemed to snap me back to reality.

"Dude, I am just here to apologize. I didn't mean for any of that to happen. I was just being stupid-"

"Being stupid? You almost cost her her life! You need to leave."

"Tyler I don't want any trouble. I just came to see her, I promise. And about last night, what happened between us, I don't know what happened-"

"Save it, I could care less about your crappy excuses. You just need to leave. Now." I said sternly. I just wanted him out of here before I would do something I regret.

"All I want is to talk to her-"

"Do you even realize? Alyce isn't conscious. S-She hasn't woken up since." My words stammered, I could feel the hot tears out of my eyes. I brushed it away and put my hands over my face. I could feel the tears just rushing out. A shoulder came up from behind me,

"Cody you just need to leave. You have already done enough. If you want to make it up to Alyce, just go. She wouldn't want to wake up to more trouble between the two of you, that is the last thing she needs." Chris proclaimed.

"Bro, I never meant to hurt her." I gave him a piercing look. I should rip his arms off his body. "But I will go." He walked away glumly with his head lowered.

"Thank you." Chris said strongly. How did he listen to Chris and not me? "And you." He squeezed my shoulder. I looked up at him. "Are you okay?"

"Yes, I-I am fine." My words stuttering again.

Chris could see right through my lie. "No you are not, it is okay to not always be okay. You have a right to be upset and worried. You don't always have to not cry, you are allowed to cry."

I broke down to him. "I-I am just trying to stay strong for her. In front of you and especially her mom. I can't imagine how she feels right now." I confessed.

"Okay then talk to her mom about it. She doesn't have anyone to lean on right now either." Chris mentioned.

"You're right." I replied. "Thanks."

"We are all upset, this is the time to be upset. One of my dear friends, your girlfriend, is unconscious, we are all worried about her." Chris replied. Katherine walked in with a bag of food and coffee in her hands.

"What did I miss?"

CHRIS POV

"Excuse me, sir." I felt an arm poking me. My eyes slowly opened as I realized who was speaking to me. I stood up abruptly as did Katherine, Tyler, and Mrs. Perez.

"Yes? What's the latest?" I looked in her eyes hungry for an answer.

She was an older woman, maybe in her fifties. She was black and her hair was natural- looking. The nurse looked at a chart. "Well, we had to put her on a lot of fluids and she had an infection that her body was trying to fight off in her spleen." I looked down, what could that all mean? "But, the good news is she is awake and she is going to make it." I felt so relieved, like a huge weight has been lifted off my chest.
