Mabel's POV
"What?"I asked Bill. He had been glaring at me ever since Stan called.
"Nothing," he spat. I looked away form him, and back at my dresser where my knife sat. I starred at it for a while, until I went to pick it up. Before I could grab it though, Bill came up behind me and took it.
"Hey," I spun around to get it back, but he held the pointed side under my chin, tilting it up so I was forced to meet his eyes. I gasped when I felt the cold melt prick my exposed skin.
"Why?" he asked, no longer glaring, but more like he was amusing himself.
"I-I-I-"
"You know, you really shouldn't do that." He raised an eyebrow.
"Why do you care?" He smirked
"Because I need your body to stay alive, I can't have you getting hurt, now can I?" I tried to push him away from me, but he backed me up into the dresser so that I was leaning back on top of it, with him on top of me, pushing the knife against my neck. "Quit trying to resist me. I can feel it in your mind. You think you can get rid of me, well you can't. Ford won't be able to help, Dipper left you, Stan left you. You're all alone. You have nobody but me." He looked right at me smirking. His face was uncomfortably close to mine.
I felt a tear slip down and I lightly shook my head.
"No," I whispered. He put the knife down and got off of me. I slid my back down the dresser and hugged my knees to my chest. Bill only started at me, enjoying the view of the mess he made me.
*KNOCK KNOCK KNOCK*
"Mabel, can I come in?" I heard my mom jiggle the locked door knob from outside
"Y-yeah," I stood up and tried to compose myself so she wouldn't worry. Before I got to the door, Bill grabbed my arm and stopped me.
"Hey, smile," he said, then laughed. I pulled my arm back and opened the door for my mom.
"Hey, honey. I just got off the phone with your dad and he thinks we should call a doctor."
"Tell her your fine," Bill growled and walked over to me.
"I-I'm fine mom," he leaned down next to my ear.
"Make her believe it,"
'It's hard when I'm being intimidated by a demon who has complete control over me!' He backed off a little bit
"Mabel, really-"
"No mom," I lightened up as much as I could and put on my best show. "Really, I'm fine. It was more of a small panic attack then an anxiety attack, I think it was just school stressing me out. I noticed it was going down when summer started." She looked at me unconvinced
"It seems like its been getting worse?"
"That was just because of Dipper leaving. I was just worried about him being all alone, but I'm better now." I glanced at Bill to see if I was doing okay, but I couldn't read his expression.
"Yeah, I guess I was worried too. He's not even seventeen and he's at a college campus all alone."
"Well, I'm sure it will all be fine." I was glad the focus wasn't on me anymore.
"Yeah, in fact I think I'll go call him right now and check on him. You want to talk to him?"
"No thanks. I'll call him later."
"Alright," she pulled out her phone and walked away. I shut the door behind her and locked it
"Well look at that," I jumped a little bit, forgetting there was a demon in my room. "You were almost just like yourself last summer. You know, when your ming wasn't being pulled apart by an insane demon." He laughed like he had just told the funniest joke in the world. I looked away from him and at the knife on my dresser. Well that's not an option anymore, I though bitterly. "No, its not. So don't even think about it."
Dipper's POV
"Hey," I said as I put the phone to my ear.
"Hi honey, how is it?" I heard my moms familiar voice on the other end
"It's fun. Ive already got to do some pretty cool things, and meet some cool people."
"I'm glad your having fun,"
"Yeah. Hey, how's Mabel?" I asked eagerly.
"Um- she had another attack today." Mom only knew about the attacks, not the other stuff.
"Okay. Do you think its getting better, or worse?"
"She says its getting better, but I'm not sure. Maybe you should call her later and talk to her."
"Okay, I will."
"So, when do you come home?"
"In a couple months."
"So, you'll be home in time for your seventeenth birthday?"
"Yeah, of course."
"Good. Come home soon, be safe, and have fun. I love you."
"Love you to." I pulled the phone away and clicked the red button. She was right, I probably should call Mabel. She probably needs it. I quickly dialed her number and put the phone to my ear.
"Dipper?"
"Hey Mabel!"
"Hey, I- I was just about to call you."
"Yeah, I just got off the phone with mom."
"Oh, what did she say?"
"Just that she misses me." We laughed
"Yeah, its weird without you here."
"I know. It weird being without you."
"So when are you coming home?"
"August 15th." She didn't reply. "Mabel?" Still no answer. I checked the phone to see if the call was still going. "Mabel?"
"Y-yeah, I'm still h-here." her voice was shaking
"Hey are you okay?"
"Huh, uh yeah. I just, I'm fine."
"Okay. Theres nothing you want to talk about?"
"Dipper, you need to stop worrying so much." She sounded okay again. It amazed me how she could bounce back so quickly. How long has she been having to do this?
"Mabel, I-" I sighed. "I saw your scars." I heard her breath hitch. She didn't reply. "Mabel, you need help. I can come home for you if you want." She didn't reply, though I thought I faintly heard her say 'please' but I wasn't sure. "Mabel?"
"I'm fine," she replied way to quickly.
"Mabel, you can talk to me about it if you want." I paused. "Hello?" I pulled my phone down and saw the call had been disconnected. Shit, this is getting worse.
