The next week went by peacefully, Grace didn’t even dare to look at them anymore and luckily they didn’t see Austin around too. Lauren and Camila had grown much closer, which made Lauren wonder if Camila felt the same, Lauren had already confessed her feelings for her. The day after that not-so-fun party Lauren and Camila went out to get Camila’s phone fixed as promised, that was also the day of their second kiss.
‘Camz?’ Lauren asked carefully as they entered the car again, they just finished shopping and they got Camila’s phone screen fixed. ‘I think we should talk about.. you know us’ Lauren told her carefully. ‘What about us’ Camila asked innocently, Lauren groaned in response ‘you know, the kiss, or actually kisses..’ Lauren mumbled as she remembered last week’s events in the shower. ‘I just want to know if you feel th-‘ once again Camila’s lips crashed onto hers before she could even finish the sentence.
‘I like it..’ she breathed against Lauren’s lips as she pulled away. ‘Let’s get home’ she said cheerfully as nothing even happened, Lauren just nodded with her lips still slightly parted and an astonished look on her face.
Tonight Lauren was going to make sure that she would have a serious talk with Camila, she asked Camila out on a date yesterday to which the girl shyly replied yes.
Camila had a pretty hard day in school today so she was exhausted, she had participated in her first PE lesson since nine months. They were watching Happy Feet while it became harder and harder for Camila to keep her eyes open. Lauren noticed this and when the girl’s eyes stayed closed she placed a soft kiss on the girl’s temple ‘Goodnight Camz’. Camila stirred a little and adjust her position so her head was resting on Lauren’s chest ‘I love you..’ she mumbled before her breathing steadied.
The next morning Lauren was woken up by small kisses on her collarbones, she sat up to see that smaller girl who was still laying on her chest smiling up at her. That afternoon on the ride home after school she decided to be straight to the point. ‘Will you go out with me?’ Lauren blurted out, and Camila seemed to be shocked for a second but blushed shyly after ‘I would love to’ she said in almost a whisper.
Lauren was taking her out to Diablo’s it wasn’t that fancy but she was absolutely sure that Camila would love the food there.
‘Do you have a reservation?’ The lady behind the desk said they approached with linked arms ‘Jauregui.’ Lauren told her with a huge grin, ‘your table is ready’ She said gesturing to a young man standing next to the desk, ‘right this way’ he told them with a smile. Camila was wearing a long sleeved dark red lace dress which Lauren taught was absolutely adorable, Lauren was wearing a sleeveless red lace dress, it was pure coincidence but they looked great together.
The waiter came over and handed them the menu while pouring them some wine. They both ordered and sat in silence until Lauren spoke up. ‘It isn’t that fancy.. I just thought you would like the food’ Lauren mumbled not sure whether she liked it or not but Camila reached over and grabbed her hand ‘it’s perfect, don’t worry’. The waiter came back with the plates and left again after saying ‘Enjoy your meal’
‘This is delicious!’ Camila exclaimed while taking a huge bite of her food, ‘Glad you like it’ Lauren told her laughing at the girl’s appetite. When they finished the dessert the waiter approached their table again ‘How was everything?’ he asked politely ‘Delicious, thank you!’, ‘Anything else?’ they both shook their heads and the waiter nodded ‘I'll bring the check right out’.
When the waiter disappeared again Lauren decided to make her move, ‘I know what I’m about to do know may change everything, and I’m not even sure if you feel the same’ she rambled ‘but I love you Camz, I’ve never loved someone as much as you, I never thought I would fall so hard for someone’ She took a deep breath before continuing ‘Camila would you please do me the honour of being my girlfriend?’ Lauren finished as she tried to look for any sort of confirmation in Camila’s eyes, who’s head was slowly raising, she reached over the table and pressed her lips gently against Lauren’s as she cupped the girl’s cheeks, ‘I would love to’.
‘Should we tell your parents?’ Camila asked carefully when they were seated in the car. ‘I guess that’s the best thing to do..’ Lauren told her. ‘Do you think they will mind?’ Camila asked clearly afraid ‘Don’t worry it will be ok, I will take care of it’ Lauren told her ‘The girls already know’ Camila blurted out at once ‘wha- how?’ Lauren asked astonished and Camila just waved her phone in the air with a grin ‘I’m sorry, I got excited’.
‘Mom, dad? Lauren called as they entered through the front door ‘In the kitchen!’ she heard her mother yell. Lauren took a hold of Camila’s hand as she led her to the kitchen. Clara and Michael glanced up from their food and a confused expression formed itself on their faces when they saw their interlocked hands. Lauren hesitated for some time when she noticed their confused expressions but she had to do this. ‘Camila and I are dating’ she told them firmly, there was a long moment of silence before Clara stood up from her chair ‘Alright’ she just said before walking over to the two of them to hug them, ‘b-but aren’t they practically family now?’ Michael stuttered from his position at the table. ‘We didn’t sign the papers yet right?’ Clara told her husband with a pointed look ‘and as far as I know, it’s legal when they haven’t grown up as brother and sister, plus they already started dating before we actually adopted her’ Clara told them and a slight smile formed on Michael’s lips ‘Alright’. ‘Why didn’t you tell us that you were gay before honey?’ Clara asked after some time, as they decided to have tea with the four of them. ‘I don’t even know if I am.. I don’t like putting labels on people you know..’ Lauren told them and Camila nodded in agreement.
‘ALL ABOARD THE SS. CAMREN’ Dinah exclaimed as she barged through the front door with Ally and Normani following suit. The three of them received some weird looks from Clara, Michael and the couple who were watching them. ‘Cam-what?’ Camila asked confused. ‘Camren’ Dinah said slower ‘C-A-M-R-E-N’ she spelled it out afterwards. ‘What does it stand for?’ Camila asked still not getting it while the girls laughed at her obliviousness, ‘Camren, CAMila, LauREN’ Dinah said emphasising the syllables ‘you get it? Cam + Ren’ she continued. ‘Oh’ Camila said embarrassed ‘I like it, she said as she took a hold of Lauren’s hand. ‘You two are too cute’ Normani cooed. Ally just stood in silence behind the two of them fidgeting with her fingers nervously.
When the five of them moved upstairs to watch a movie Lauren dragged Ally to the side ‘are you alright?’ she asked uncertain and Ally looked up to meet the worried green orbs. She smiled slightly and put a reassuring hand on the taller girl’s shoulder ‘yeah, it’s just.. I need to get used to it, I will get over it don’t worry’ Ally told her with a sad smile. ‘I really appreciate that, thanks Allycat’ Lauren told her before she engulfed her in a hug.
