Fortunately for Malika, Gordon, Andrea and Derrick their daughters –Normani and Dinah- woke up the next morning after the accident after being a sleep for a good twenty-two hours.

After they left the hospital they all drove back home, well Clara, Michael, Chris and Taylor went home while the others were dropped off by Patricia. The ride home was silent, none of them dared to speak. Malika and Gordon were the first to be dropped off, they went straight to bed without saying another word. Next were Andrea and Derrick, the send a small wave in the van’s direction before disappearing inside. Once they were home, Patricia and Jerry collapsed on the couch together crying their eyes out, as they decided to tell Ally’s grandparents the news.

*ring, ring, ring* Malika woke up to the sound of the phone ringing, she groaned and searched for the phone on the nightstand with her eyes still closed. ‘Hello?’ she asked in a sleepy tone, ‘Hansen family?’ the voice on the other side asked ‘Hmh’ Malika hummed as a confirmation ‘Dinah-Jane Hansen woke up half an hour ago’ Malika’s eyes immediately shot open and she was wide awake ‘Can we visit her?’ She asked a little too loud which cause Gordon to stir in his sleep ‘Yes ma’am’ the lady answered and Malika quickly hung up the phone. She jumped out of the bed and started to shake her husband by the shoulders ‘Get up!’ she yelled ‘Dinah woke up!’ she continued and Gordon immediately sat up. Fifteen minutes later the two of them were seated in the car on their way to the hospital.

The same situation took place at the Hamilton household. ‘Andrea wake up, we can visit Normani!’ Derrick said as calm as possible while carefully shaking his wife, she slowly woke up and gave him a confused look, ‘Normani woke up!’ Derrick cheered and a wide grin spread across Andrea’s face while she jumped out of the bed. They quickly dressed themselves and ran outside, car keys in one hand, sandwich in the other.

When Malika and Gordon climbed out of their car outside of the hospital they spotted Andrea and Derrick on the other side of the parking lot, they waved as they approached them. ‘Normani woke up!’ Andrea sat excited as they entered through the big hospital doors together ‘Dinah too!’ Gordon told them. The four of them practically ran through the hospital halls before coming to a stop in front of room 103, the two mothers took a hold of the hands of their husbands before slowly entering the room.

When they entered the room, they saw Dinah and Normani sitting up straight in their beds. Dinah was looking up at the small television -which was hanging from the ceiling between her and Normani’s bed- while peeling an orange. Normani was carefully eating her cereal trying not to spill while her fractured wrist was resting in her lap. They jumped a little and quickly turned their heads in the direction of the door when they heard a squeal, but the two of them squealed equally as loud when they saw their parents in the doorway. The four of them ran towards their daughters and engulfed them in a bone crushing hug, Dinah flinched when their hands touched her back and they released her grip. ‘are you ok?’ ‘I’m so glad you’re ok’ ‘how are you’ ‘is everything alright’ ‘let me help you’ is all the two girls heard for the next ten minutes.

They were so happy about their daughters having woken up that they totally forgot about the two other girls in the room, they glanced over their shoulder to see that Ally and Lauren were still unconscious, ‘are they going to be ok?’ Dinah asked carefully, ‘they will be on their feet again soon, they just need some time’ Andrea told her trying to sound convincing but failing miserably.

-one week later-

Patricia, Clara, Jerry and Michael woke up around noon that day which was now exactly one week ago, they all got the same text from their friends saying that Dinah and Normani had woken up and that they were at the hospital. Not much later the four of them plus Chris and Taylor also arrived at the hospital, they walked through the white boring hospital halls secretly wishing that their daughters also had woken up by now. Unfortunately when they entered the room they were still in exactly the same state as when they left.
