My Whirlwind High School Romance

Lunch time

Zane's POV

I woke up Saturday morning feeling nervous. Today Emiko was going to be around to cook lunch. I never feel this way but today I was surely going to stumble my words or do something stupid. I heard a buzzing next to me from my night stand and picked it up to see a text.

Morning, on my way to the shop now. Any allergies I need to be aware off?  X

Emiko sent a kiss afte that? Okay calm down it might not mean anything. I texted back with a simple 'no' before hitting send. Should I have sent a kiss too? Nah that's too much off a guy right?

I pushed myself out of my bed and stretched my arms up. It was 10:00 so I had a couple hours before Emiko should here. I would probably just do my homework then maybe work through my deck possibly.

I walk downstairs to see Syrus watching tv on the couch, not paying much attention to me. "Morning little brother," I yawned walking into the kitchen to make myself a drink.

"Morning big bro," Syrus replied after pausing the tv. "Want to come watch the Battle City DVD with me for a bit?"

"I'll join you once I've done my homework," I said pouring a cup of coffee. I then looked around and I started to think maybe I should clean up a bit too. It wouldn't be nice for a young girl to see boxers hanging out to dry. I sighed putting my coffee down and started to fold and move the laundry out of site. "Sy come move your clothes."

Syrus got up and came to the kitchen and started to fold his half of the laundry. "Bro can I ask something?"

"Sure what is it?" I asked concerned.

"Well ummm, have you ever had a crush on anyone?" He asked almost shouting the question with his nerves. I was shocked my little brother was asking me something so personal.

"I do have a crush on someone why?"

"Well I like this person but think they like someone else."

"Well that position I'm not in." I answered honestly. "For me its more to do with I'm not sure this person likes me back."

"Oh," Syrus said sounding disappointed. "What do I do?"

I had to think for a moment. I've never been in this situation before. Duelling was all I cared about and now I was experiencing my first crush. "Talk to the person," I said folding my last shirt. "The worst that can be said they don't like you that way and you remain friends."

Syrus seemed shocked at my suggestion but then gave a small smile. "Yeah that's right. I'll tell them on Monday."

I patted him on the head. He was going to do something I'm too scared to do.

11:26 the door bell rang. I looked through the window to see Emiko standing with 2 large bags of groceries. Syrus was able to answer the door before I could. "Hey guys," she smiled taking her shoes off. "Syrus can you take the bags for me please?"

Syrus took the bags to the kitchen as I went up to Emiko. "Hey thanks for coming," I said taking her coat.

"I have nothing to do anyway," she laughed stepping into the living room. "Wow whose are the trophies," she gasped running over to the glass cabinet.

"Our mum's" I said. "She used to be a pro dancer until she had me." I felt a bit guilty when mum had to give him her career to have me but she went on to be a dance teacher so it was all good. "She's very pretty." Emiko was talking about the picture of my mum holding her first trophy. "You look like her."

"Thanks," I said, my cheeks heating up a bit. I think I just got called pretty but I'll take what I can get. "I'll show you the kitchen and we can get lunch started."

I looked down and the food in front of us. It looked good. Like really really good! "It's nothing special but I figured this is a good hearty lunch for now ready for dinner later," Emiko said taking a sit opposite me.

"Thank you for the meal," me and Syrus chimed as we started to dig in. The first mouthful was full of love and flavour. Sorry mum, hope you can forgive me but we've found cooking better then yours. I looked up and notice Emiko had a small blush on her face. I really wish I could add this picture into my phone right now.
